Job Description

Belmont High School is a comprehensive, co-educational secondary school located in the eastern suburbs of Lake Macquarie. The school was established as the first high school outside of Newcastle in 1953 and draws its enrolments from the Belmont, Belmont North, Floraville and Jewells communities. Belmont High School is a proud member of the Belmont Learning Community and Minimbah AECG, working in partnership to improve student outcomes. In 2025, the school recorded 852 students, including 131 Aboriginal students and 7 Inclusive Education classes.
Belmont High School has a culture of success in sport and creative and performing arts, with high expectations for student academic achievement. The school provides an enrichment stream in Years 7-10, and a Senior Learning Hub that operates daily, providing support for students in the completion of assessment tasks and study. Students also receive extensive support in accessing School-based Apprenticeships and Traineeships and transition to local industry and tertiary study post-school pathways. The Positive Behaviour for Learning program focuses on developing the qualities of respect, responsibility and resilience in our students and this is combined with our whole school focus of Restorative Practices through our partnership with Real Schools.
  • Approval to teach Music (7-12).
  • Proven expertise in creating a positive learning environment through organising, directing and supporting music ensembles, bands, choirs or other performance groups, encouraging participation and achievement at a range of skill levels.
  • Proven ability to plan, implement, and assess engaging and comprehensive music programs (7-12) that cater to a diverse range of students, including Aboriginal students.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
