Job Description

Job Profile: Senior Manager – Microsoft 365 Platform

Role Summary

The Senior Manager – Microsoft 365 Platform is accountable for the product ownership, governance, and technical health of Microsoft 365 and the Power Platform across TD SYNNEX.

This role provides clear direction on what we use, how we use it, and how we evolve it, ensuring the platform is secure, standardized, and aligned to enterprise priorities while actively reducing technical debt and legacy dependencies.

The role operates as a platform product leader, not a service desk or security function, and works in close partnership with Infrastructure Operations, Security, Architecture, SAM, and Regional IT teams.

Reporting Line

Reports to: Vice President, rTIO Europe and Global Ops
Management Level: Senior Manager

Mission

Provide clear Microsoft 365 and Power Platform product direction, robust governance, and disciplined execution—modernizing collaboration services, reducing technical debt, and enabling secure, scalable cloud adoption across TD SYNNEX.

Key Responsibilities

1. Platform Product Ownership & Strategy

Accountable for defining and maintaining the target-state vision for:

  • Microsoft 365 collaboration services (Office 365, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Microsoft 365 Groups, Copilot, Viva where applicable)
  • Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI – governance and strategy)
  • The hybrid digital workspace (integration of collaboration tools with physical office environments)

Key outcomes:

  • Clearly articulated platform roadmap aligned to business priorities
  • Defined usage patterns, guardrails, and architectural principles
  • Transparent decision-making on platform evolution and deprecation

2. Platform Governance

Own and enforce governance models covering:

  • Usage standards and lifecycle management
  • Workspace and application provisioning models (in coordination with the SAM team for licensing)
  • Data ownership, permissions, retention, and external sharing rules

The role ensures consistency at scale, balancing flexibility for the business with enterprise risk and compliance requirements.

3. Platform Engineering & Maintenance

Provide leadership over platform stability and continuous improvement, including:

  • Configuration baselines and policy management
  • Release and change impact management for Microsoft 365 updates
  • Reduction of recurring incidents through standardization and automation

This role is accountable for outcomes, not hands-on administration, working through platform engineers and regional teams.

4. Legacy Reduction & Cloud Migration (Strategy Ownership)

Own the strategy and direction for:

  • Migration from file shares and legacy collaboration tools to SharePoint and Teams
  • Replacement of legacy solutions (e.g. Access databases) with governed Power Platform solutions
  • Definition and active burn-down of technical debt through a documented target-state architecture

Execution may sit with regional or project teams; accountability for direction, standards, and success remains with this role.

5. Stakeholder & Cross‑Functional Leadership

  • Act as the senior point of contact for M365 platform direction across IT and the business
  • Partner closely with:
    • Security teams (alignment, not ownership)
    • Architecture and Infrastructure teams
    • Regional IT leadership
    • Vendor and Microsoft account teams
  • Translate business needs into platform capabilities and constraints

Explicitly Out of Scope

The following are not owned by this role:

  • End-user training and adoption (Learning function)
  • License management (SAM team)
  • Direct ownership of IT Security tools (e.g. Defender, Sentinel)
  • AI strategy and AI training ownership (owned elsewhere)
  • Hands-on execution of large migration projects (governance and oversight only)
  • Operational monitoring of Teams meeting performance

Success Measures

  • Reduction in legacy collaboration platforms and file shares
  • Compliance with M365 governance standards
  • Platform stability and reduction in repeat incidents
  • Clarity and adoption of standard collaboration patterns
  • Stakeholder satisfaction with platform direction and decision-making

Experience & Capability Profile

Required

  • Senior leadership experience managing enterprise collaboration or productivity platforms
  • Deep understanding of Microsoft 365 and Power Platform at an architectural and governance level
  • Proven experience driving standardization and reducing technical debt in complex environments
  • Strong stakeholder management in matrixed, global organizations

Desired

  • Experience operating in large, post‑merger or highly distributed enterprises
  • Familiarity with IT service management, change governance, and cloud operating models
  • Ability to operate as a product leader, not a technical specialist

Leadership Style

Consistent with TD SYNNEX leadership expectations, the role emphasizes:

  • Clear accountability and outcome-driven management
  • Strong delegation and empowerment of teams
  • Pragmatic decision-making over theoretical perfection
  • Calm, credible leadership in periods of change
