Job Summary:
The 3D Imaging QA Specialist manipulates digital CT and MRI medical images using advanced 3D workstations, creating multi-planar and multi-dimensional visualizations for clinical interpretation and quantitative analysis of diagnostic and interventional studies. This self-directed role is responsible for managing quality efficiencies within the 3D Lab. The position includes training and advising 3D staff, radiology personnel, nursing staff, and physicians on 3D imaging applications, protocols, and best practices. The specialist ensures accurate and timely transfer of image data to and from 3D Lab workstations. This role also performs specialized radiologic procedures using approved radiation safety measures under the direction of a radiologist. The incumbent will complete a rigorous training period of approximately six months, including developing proficiency in complex 3D imaging workstation software and creating standardized protocol views for a wide range of clinical anatomy and pathology.
EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:
A minimum of 3 years of 3D Imaging experience is required.
Experience with 3-D and/or multiplanar reformatting is preferred. Experience working in a PACS digital imaging environment is preferred.
EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:
A minimum of 2-4 years at a University, Community College, College, Business School, Trade or Technical School is required. Bachelor degree is preferred.
SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION:
Ability to use CT equipment including scan operators control console and laser camera. Must be well versed in CT and MRI scanning technology, cross-sectional anatomy and gross pathology. Must possess skills necessary to be effective in operations, marketing and management of employees. These skills and knowledge are essential to be able to identify artifacts in the images and to be able to respond to clinicians detailed requests for views depicting certain anatomy and/or pathology in the images. Must have MRI cross sectional pathology knowledge for surgical mappings of tumors for therapy planning.
LICENSURE DESCRIPTION:
Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is required.
American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire. Advanced ARRT license in CT or MRI is preferred.
