Are you looking for an unforgettable summer experience where you can grow, have fun, and change lives? Easterseals Iowa is seeking high-energy, caring individuals to join us as Seasonal Summer Camp Counselors for our 9-week summer camp season!
In this role, you will provide a safe and fun environment for summer campers, helping them build independence and create lifelong memories!
What You’ll Do (Principal Accountabilities):
- Create the Fun: Assist with setting up programming, facilitating activities, and actively engaging/participating with campers.
- Support Growth & Independence: Work cooperatively with team members and volunteers to adapt activities so all campers can participate, regardless of ability.
- Know Your Campers: Acquire a working knowledge of each assigned camper’s profile, including their individual strengths, weaknesses, behavior patterns, and medication/side effects.
- Teamwork & Care: Help with daily morning cleanup (making beds, sweeping, doing laundry), attend weekly team meetings to provide feedback, and communicate any concerns directly to your Cabin Leader.
- Evaluate & Reflect: Submit session evaluations and attend the summer banquet to share recommendations for future camp programs.

Requirements:
- Must be at least 14 years of age.
- A genuine desire to work with people who have disabilities.
- Must love being active, spending time outside, and swimming.
- Ability to work 9 consecutive weeks and successfully complete pre-camp orientation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to accept feedback and guidance.
- Ability to identify and respond to environmental hazards and enforce safety procedures.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to bend, stoop, twist, lift, and transfer or move a minimum of 80 pounds.
