About this Role
Flare Construction, LLC is hiring a Shop Mechanic to join our Fleet Services team at our Coalville, UT yard. This is a home-based position — you work regular shop hours, build deep familiarity with our fleet, and serve as the backbone of equipment readiness for our Civil and Gas Division project crews.

What You'll Do
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on fleet vehicles and heavy construction equipment: oil changes, fluid services, filter replacements, lubrication, and inspections
- Diagnose and assist with repairs on mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems under guidance from senior mechanics
- Prepare and stage equipment for field deployment; verify readiness checklists before release to project sites
- Maintain accurate service records and work orders in the fleet management system
- Keep the shop organized, clean, stocked, and in safe working condition
- Assist with parts procurement and inventory management
- Participate in required training and certification programs to advance toward Mechanic II
What You'll Bring
Required
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Basic mechanical knowledge: engines, drivetrains, hydraulics, and electrical systems
- Ability to read service manuals and follow technical procedures
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. regularly and stand, bend, or work in confined positions for extended periods
- OSHA 10 required or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire
Preferred
- 1+ years of experience as a mechanic on fleet vehicles or heavy construction equipment (or equivalent hands-on training)
- Experience in construction, civil infrastructure, or gas industries
- Vocational or technical training in diesel mechanics, heavy equipment, or a related field
- CDL a plus
