About this Role
Flare Construction, LLC is hiring a Traveling Fuel and Lube Technician to support active project sites across our Civil and Gas Division operations. You'll operate a fuel and lube service truck at out-of-town project sites — delivering fuel, performing fluid services, and keeping equipment in the field without ever pulling it from production.
This is a great fit for a CDL driver with mechanical aptitude who wants consistent full-time work, project-based assignments, and a clear path toward a full fleet mechanic career. A Class B CDL with Hazmat endorsement is required.
What You'll Do
- Operate a fuel and lube service truck on active construction project sites
- Deliver diesel fuel and fluids to equipment in the field; manage fuel inventory and track usage accurately
- Perform routine fluid services: oil changes, lubrication, filter replacements, coolant, and hydraulic fluid
- Conduct basic pre- and post-service inspections; document all work in the fleet management system
- Transport and manage fuel in compliance with DOT regulations and EPA spill prevention requirements
- Coordinate with site supervisors and the Shop and Service Manager on equipment schedules and service priorities
- Maintain the service truck in safe, clean, and DOT-compliant operating condition at all times
- Comply with all safety policies and OSHA standards; report hazards or incidents immediately
What You'll Bring
Required
- Valid CDL Class B with Hazmat endorsement
- Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record
- Working knowledge of DOT regulations for fuel transport
- Ability to work full-time at out-of-town project locations for the duration of each project
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. regularly and work in all weather conditions
- High school diploma or GED
- OSHA 10 required or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire
CDL Class A, with additional certifications required for advancement to Mechanic I.
Preferred
- Prior experience operating a fuel/lube truck or similar service vehicle
- Familiarity with fluid services and lubrication procedures on heavy construction equipment
- Experience in construction, civil infrastructure, or gas industries
Education: High school diploma or GED required. Technical school coursework or entry-level diesel technician training preferred.
Physical Demands: Frequent lifting, bending, standing, and working in confined spaces are required. Must be capable of lifting and carrying up to 75 lbs. on a regular basis and up to 80 lbs. for certain project tasks.
Traveling Field assignments require full-time on-site work at out-of-town project sites for the duration of each project; extended stays and temporary relocation are required.
