Your impact

At Jacobs, we’re not just building structures. We’re helping our clients innovate and grow by designing, engineering, and managing the construction of their advanced facilities that are changing our world.

As a Manager of Construction (MOC) Professional, you’ll join our collaborative team providing our clients with award-winning planning, engineering, architectural design, construction management, and design-build project delivery. We’re looking for a passionate Construction Professional in Conshohocken, PA who is inspired by collaboration, exceeding expectations, and challenging the status quo.

The MOC will be responsible for the Project Delivery for the Life Sciences business unit providing the interface between projects and the business. This is a business-critical role that ensures successful Integrated Project Delivery of EPCM projects. This MOC role is a national role and will be responsible for oversight and management of a customer portfolio across multiple geographies. The MOC ensures early engagement with the business in the sales process to bring the “construction-driven” project delivery approach to the team, and then leads this approach through to implementation and closeout of the project.

The MOC reports to the Business Unit (BU) Operations Leader with dotted line responsibility to the VP of Construction. The MOC is assigned to represent a series of projects/geographies within a specific LOB/business unit.

Responsibilities will include:

Sales Support

The MOC is the interface between New Opportunities/Top Prospects and Engineering and Construction teams. Will support sales and proposal efforts with the identification of candidates as needed. Will work with VP of Construction Management and HR to ensure best-fit resources are utilized for sales opportunities. Will make sales presentations on construction services to key clients. The MOC, in conjunction with Sales and VP of Construction, will assist with negotiating contracts, commercial terms and rates. Will bring expertise to the team in order to guide the most effective implementation approaches (Design Assist / Design Build / Design Bid Build) for the work.

People & Staffing

The MOC has administrative responsibility (Performance Reviews, Timesheets, etc.) for their team of Construction Managers and their staff. As agreed with the LoB, the projects may take on some of these responsibilities (e.g., timesheets). Responsible for training and coaching, as well as career development for CMs. Will work with the VP of Construction in strategic placement of CM staff for both professional development and ensuring high caliber delivery staff are assigned to key projects.

Forecasting

The MOC works closely with the other BUs during forecasting to capture prospects where margin will be shared based on corporate policy. The owning BU will need to ensure that margin is not double-counted. The MOC will coordinate this effort in concert with Finance and ensure overall understanding of forecasted opportunities.

Project Performance

The MOC will work closely with the BU Operations Team to ensure proper setup of jobs—including staffing, processes, tools, and procedures. Will have oversight for the safety of CM projects and collaborate with safety teams to ensure correct reporting, staffing, and leadership. Will ensure CRRs and monthly OPRs are conducted appropriately. Will report back to the business on critical actions including cost, schedule, quality, and client issues.
