Title and Summary
Vice President, Technical ArchitectOverviewThe Customer Solutions Center is a structure which enables Mastercard to develop better solutions & bundles for prioritized customer segments in markets.
It is the housing for all Mastercard capabilities in a geography, and it aims to drive Mastercard growth and revenue by creating and selling compelling data-driven, scalable needs-based solutions to new and existing customers by tapping into Mastercard’s extensive toolbox of products and services offerings.
Technical Architect is provider of deep expertise on solution architecture to ensure feasibility of bespoke implementation. Working together with solution architect and solution specialists, Technical Architect understands details of proposed bundles & solutions to manage technical implications and to assess how they can be implemented with clients.
VP, Technical Architect leads the Technical Architect team and reports to Division Customer Solutions Center Lead.
Key Responsibilities
Technology leadership (market/segment)
• Serve as the technology expert for the geography/segment portfolio, advising CSC teams.
• Translate merchant/acquirer needs into clear architecture implications (current state, target state, and roadmap).
• Partner with Solution Architects/Solution Specialists to shape needs-based solutions and bundles that address customer pain points.
Pre-sales & solution design
• Lead technical discovery and pre-scoping; map proposed solutions to client architecture and integration requirements.
• Provide tech-functional input to value proposition development and client conversations.
• Bring forward technology readiness and timeline insights; guide budgeting discussions with Finance where needed.
Delivery readiness & ecosystem coordination
• Identify and manage required system integrators/partners to enable rollout; align on integration methodology with client teams.
• Ensure smooth post-sales handover with TAMs/implementation teams (Mastercard and client) and de-risk technical delivery plans.
VP / Team leadership
• Lead, coach, and develop the Technical Architect team; set priorities, operating rhythm, and quality standards.
• Drive consistent architecture governance and best-practice sharing across the Technical Architect community.
• Provide structured feedback to product/solution and technology leads to improve platforms and assets for local needs and global scale.
All about You
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Management Information Systems or equivalent combination of relevant experience and education
• Operational /technical background within the retail, (e)Commerce and/or payments and financial services industries.
• Prior Implementation, product management experience in payments/commerce domain platforms is an advantage.
• Prior technical/integration experience with payment ecosystem players
• Experience in product development and/or business analysis
• Knowledge of techniques for requirements capture and specification and the ability to balance tactical commercial needs against the needs of strategic Product & architecture
• Understanding of APIs or working in new product development/innovation departments • • • Knowledge of card payment processing infrastructure in Japan.
• Prior knowledge of Mastercard Products and Services is a plus
• Problem solving, product documentation, and project management skills.
• Able to manage ambiguity and conflict on the way to success
