Job Description

About Us

Quanta Power Solutions brings together the industry-leading capabilities and resources of Quanta's operating companies to deliver complete EPC solutions. Our integrated approach spans power generation, battery energy storage, renewables, transmission, substation, and underground infrastructure — from concept to commissioning, we execute complex power infrastructure projects with the speed, certainty, and operational excellence our customers depend on.

At Quanta Power Solutions, we are driven by a culture of safety, integrity, and disciplined execution — and we're building a team that shares that commitment.

About this Role

Quanta Power Solutions is seeking an experienced Data Platform Architect to lead the design, development, and governance of our enterprise data platform. This role is central to our goal of managing our new Databricks instance and enabling QPS to fulfill the data needs of the business. You will serve as the technical owner of our data tenant—spanning the Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers of our medallion architecture—and will work closely with BI analysts, application developers, and business stakeholders across Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, and Project Management.

Quanta Power Solutions is actively standing up its Databricks environment. The successful candidate will take full ownership of the platform and its supporting processes, and will be empowered to shape, refine, and scale them as business needs grow and mature. If you are passionate about building scalable, secure, and well-governed data platforms that power real business decisions, we want to hear from you.

What You'll Do

Platform Engineering & Operations

  • Design and build ETL/ELT workflows using Delta Live Tables, notebooks, and Databricks Jobs to ingest data from enterprise source systems including JD Edwards, EcoSys, Salesforce, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC/Forma), Bridgit, P6, Kronos, LevelPath, and other applications.
  • Own and administer Unity Catalog to enforce data governance, access controls, and row/column-level security across all platform layers—taking accountability for the governance framework’s evolution, not just its day-to-day administration.
  • Manage the platform security model, including row-level security (RLS), column-level security (CLS), and tiered access controls aligned to business roles.
  • Monitor platform health, troubleshoot pipeline failures, and proactively address data quality issues, including ownership of SLA definition (freshness, completeness, accuracy) and escalation processes.
  • Establish and enforce data engineering standards, naming conventions, and documentation practices across the platform.

Analytics & AI Enablement

  • Collaborate with BI developers to ensure Gold layer datasets are structured, documented, and optimized for consumption. Note: the organization’s target state is Databricks-native visualization (Genie AI/BI and Databricks Apps); Power BI is an interim tool and not the long-term ecosystem this role will maintain.
  • Support AI and analytics use cases by maintaining clean, well-modeled data assets that power tools such as Genie Spaces, Databricks Apps, and internal AI agents.
  • Drive platform adoption and self-service enablement through Databricks Genie and Databricks Apps, enabling business users to access and explore data independently.

Governance & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Own the data governance framework—including Unity Catalog policies, data ownership assignments, quality SLAs, and lineage documentation—and evolve it as the platform and organization mature.
  • Own the data request intake and prioritization process, working with business stakeholders to triage needs and maintain a transparent backlog.
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for business domains (Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Project Management) on data availability, quality, and platform capabilities.
  • Communicate platform health, roadmap progress, and risks to IT leadership and business stakeholders in clear, business-friendly terms.

Enterprise Partnerships & Cross-Cloud Coordination

  • Partner with Corporate IT to ensure alignment on Databricks platform standards, security policies, and enterprise architecture governance. Note: the QPS Databricks environment is AWS-hosted within a broader Quanta organization that is Azure-centric; this role will need to navigate cross-cloud considerations including networking, identity, and data movement.
  • Navigate cross-cloud infrastructure considerations (AWS + Azure) as part of enterprise IT partnership and platform evolution.
  • Partner with IT leadership and the Data Analytics team on roadmap planning, capacity needs, and emerging platform capabilities.
  • Coordinate with external implementation partners during transition periods, ensuring clean knowledge transfer and sustainable internal platform ownership.

What You'll Bring

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

Experience

  • 6–8 years of experience in data engineering, database development, or a related technical discipline, with at least 1–2 years as the primary owner of a data platform (not just a contributor).
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks, including Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and Databricks SQL.
  • Strong SQL skills for complex query development, optimization, and debugging.
  • Experience with Python or PySpark for data transformation and pipeline development.
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms—AWS preferred (S3, IAM, networking fundamentals).
  • Solid understanding of data modeling concepts: medallion architecture, star schema, and dimensional modeling.
  • Experience owning or significantly evolving data governance processes, including data ownership models, quality standards, and access policies.
  • Comfort operating in a cross-cloud environment (AWS + Azure) and navigating enterprise IT partnerships.
  • Track record of driving platform adoption among non-technical business users.
  • Experience with enterprise source systems such as JD Edwards, EcoSys, D365, Salesforce, or similar ERP/CRM platforms is a plus.
  • Experience receiving and operationalizing work from external implementation partners (consulting-to-internal handoff).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical architecture into business context.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience in a post-M&A or greenfield data environment.
  • Familiarity with data-as-a-product concepts (data contracts, SLAs, discoverability).
  • Experience with enterprise security models including RLS, CLS, and role-based access design.
  • Databricks certifications (e.g., Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate/Professional).
