Job Description

Required Qualifications: (as evidenced by an attached resume)

Doctoral Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Medicine or a closely related field (received not more than six years ago).

Experienced with neuroscience research with a track record of neuroscience/neurosurgery manuscript publication.

Experience with database management (REDCap).

Preferred Qualifications:

Having some basic science lab skills, and familiarities with clinical trials and cohort studies is a plus.

Experience with proposal writing.

MATLAB or Python.

Statistical programs R or SPSS.

Brief Description of Duties:
The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator Dr. Sima Mofakham in the department of Neurological Surgery. Please visit the Mofakham-Mikell Lab to learn more about our department/research. The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University.

Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, conduct research experiments in the field of Neurosciences/Neurological Surgery. Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature search and utilizing specialized skills in related field to analyze the collected data. Database development. 

Assisting in writing proposals. Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations. 

Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies as needed.

Mentoring PhD and medical students

Other duties as assigned, which may include attending Scientific Conferences and Meetings.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding.
