- Develop project scope statements in consultation with clients and other project personnel such as architects and engineers
- Coordinate with Facilities Management, building proctors and occupants, in addition to auxiliary services such as EH&S, OIT and Parking Services
- Evaluate scheduling needs, compile data from numerous sources and develop a master project timeline for projects for which this position is responsible for.
- Monitor schedule and adjust as necessary to deliver projects on time
- Determine when additional effort is required to keep the project on schedule and act if work falls behind
- Prepare budget estimates to give clients magnitude of cost for proposed projects
- In consultation with the Assistant Dean of Infrastructure this position will have fiscal management responsibility of the project budgets and adjustments for maximum effectiveness when necessary
- Negotiate costs of services with consultants, contractors, and suppliers
- Maintain a computer-based budget worksheet and update status on a regular basis
- Provides effective construction management of assigned projects within the University system by coordinating all activity on these projects, including feasibility analysis, programming, preliminary studies and development of alternative solutions, code review, project design, development of contract documents, preparation of project estimates and budgets, solicitation, receipt and evaluation of project bids for award to the lowest, responsive, responsible bidder, construction administration, site observation of construction, management of the project budget, and project close-out
- Support the Assistant Dean of Infrastructure on space-related duties including acting as the master user for the space management platform, ad hoc reporting, support CAS master space planning, and conducting space audits
- Handle the Request for Proposal process, prioritization, and reporting on internal and external funding solicitations.
- Solicit proposals or qualifications as necessary
- Create and negotiate mutually acceptable terms and conditions
- Prepare consultant and contractor contracts
- Obtain appropriate approvals
- Amend contracts as applicable
- Monitor activities of consultants and contractors for conformance to contract terms and conditions
This position will be responsible for administrative duties including:
- Document Control.
- Updating and archiving of project documents and MOU’s.
- Access Control.
- Facilitation of badge access and key requests.
- CU Property Management.
- Disposition of furniture and equipment.
- Coordinate construction, outage, and repairs.
- Keep occupants advised of outages or potential disruptions by following appropriate policies and procedures.
- Act as Facilities Management’s Single Point of Contact for these buildings and the various work orders.
- Paperless initiative.
- Construction waste recycling program.
- Sustainability incentives for green lab/office practices.
- Sustainable transportation.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and guidelines.
- Maintain safety related forms and logs.
- Analyze materials to be used on site to ensure proper signage and disposal methods are in place.
- In collaboration with the CU Police Department, Environmental Health & Safety, and Facilities Management, this position identifies safety related issues and risks. Once risks are identified, the Project Manager will work with project leadership and other collaborators to design solutions to mitigate the exposure to those risks.
- This is a two-year appointment
- Hybrid Schedule: At least 3 days a week on campus per campus and college policies and guidelines. This is subject to change based on the business needs of the department. Employee will be expected to be on campus Monday-Friday during onboarding, training, and/or professional development events/meetings.
- Work Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday

- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or a substitution of an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. For instance, journeyman or master licensure is applicable and will count toward equivalent experience.
- 3 years of progressive job-related experience in a construction management setting.
- Demonstrable experience setting shared goals for a team and holding employees accountable to ensure goals are met
- Demonstrable leadership, with the ability to find opportunities for improvement, and implement changes to make improvements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal problem-solving skills
- Ability to handle multiple, complex assignments
- Outstanding interpersonal skills
- Proficiency reading and understanding construction documentation
- Proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook, BlueBeam, and MS Project
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management
- 3+ years of progressive job-related experience in a construction management setting
- 3+ years managing a construction budget and scheduling
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Experience working in a higher education environment
- Proficiency with space management software
- Experience with facility management
