As a United States and Puerto Rico Payroll Lead, you’ll oversee end-to-end payroll operations for US and Puerto Rico employees, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll delivery. In this role, you’ll lead a small team, partner with cross-functional stakeholders, and serve as a subject matter expert in payroll processes, compliance, and systems.

We’re looking for someone with strong attention to detail, deep payroll expertise, and a proactive mindset to drive accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement.

 

HERE’S WHAT YOU´LL BE DOING:

  • Lead end-to-end payroll processing for US and Puerto Rico (weekly and bi-weekly cycles) ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Supervise and develop a team of payroll processors, driving performance and accountability.
  • Review and validate payroll data, including adjustments, new hires, terminations, and leave payments.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and Puerto Rico regulations, including tax and labor requirements.
  • Manage post-payroll activities such as reconciliations, payroll posting, and audit support (SOX).
  • Act as escalation point for complex payroll issues, working with internal teams and external partners.
  • Perform audits and identify discrepancies to improve process accuracy and controls.
  • Support year-end activities including W-2s, system updates, and compliance processes.
  • Leverage systems (Dayforce, SAP or similar) to manage payroll operations and reporting.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3–5 years of payroll experience or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of US payroll processes, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to interpret complex payroll, legal, and tax information.
  • Experience with payroll systems (e.g., Dayforce or similar) and MS Office tools.
  • Strong analytical skills, including reconciliations and data validation.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • High level of confidentiality and professionalism handling sensitive information.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field.
  • CPP, FPP, or other payroll/HR certifications.
  • Experience processing multi-state US and Puerto Rico payroll.
  • Experience working in a shared services or global environment.
  • Knowledge of SOX controls and audit requirements.
  • Experience leading or supervising small teams.
