Technical Director Customer Development, Mexico

As the Technical Director for Customer Development in Mexico, you will lead the growth, innovation, and execution of PPG's coatings technologies across a strategic market. You will direct a team of technical professionals across multiple segments, ensuring technical support and customer experiences that align with PPG's global standards.

Reporting to the Americas Regional Technical Director for Customer Development, you will partner with Global Product & Customer Development. You will also partner with the operations and quality teams supporting San Juan del Rio, the Mexico Commercial and Optima teams, and regional leadership. You will set a clear strategy for Mexico, strengthen customer relationships, and ensure delivery of high‑quality technical services and solutions. You will be based in SJDR, Qro plant.

Key Responsibilities

• Build the technical strategy for Mexico according to our goals, and implement a culture of safety, accountability, trust and continuous improvement while ensuring efficient resource planning and capability development.
• Promote excellence in project execution, technical service, customer trials, and application support across a portfolio of 100+ projects by instituting and ensuring compliance with our project management tools and APQP
• Partner with Global Product Development and Customer Development leaders to accelerate new product development and deployment.
• Influence and ensure compliance to customer specifications, qualification testing, and regulatory approvals.
• Support NPI and the customer complaints through expertise in substrate protection, decorative coatings systems, and adhesive and sealants for OEM and Tiers customers in automotive market.
• Be the main technical leader representing us to major customers in Mexico and act as a trusted technical advisor.
• Anticipate and enhance market trends, customer needs, and competitive dynamics within Mexico.
• Ensure seamless technical engagement and support throughout the customer experience, from early-stage development to final approval and product performance in market

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in technical, R&D, or technical management roles.
• Technical degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, coatings, or related
• High level of customer orientation; recognized as a technical leader by peers and customers.
• Experience shaping top technical talent.
• Fluent English required
