Position Overview:

This role is a combination of Marketing and Transaction Services (MTS) activities and Operations responsibilities for the AP Financial Solutions business. Under the MTS role, the candidate will lead, coordinate, and liaise with cross-functional project teams to develop large and complex reinsurance and financing transactions within the APFS mandate in Asia. Under the Operations scope, the candidate is expected to manage the operational aspects of the business, particularly onboarding new business and overseeing the management of existing operations. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of collaborating across various departments to drive operational excellence. This includes supporting the Director of Marketing & Transaction Services and Operations for AP Financial Solutions, as well as ensuring that the APFS business operates with appropriate infrastructure, processes, standards, and internal controls. This role covers all of Asia, with a primary focus on the Japan and Hong Kong SAR markets.

Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with stakeholders of varying level (including business development, pricing, investments, legal and other corporate partners as needed) to structure and complete highly complex financially-motivated reinsurance transactions in Asia. Facilitate the APFS transaction process by coordinating with technical experts, documenting findings, and ensuring timely issue resolution to support successful outcomes.

  • Oversee APFS operations, including project oversight, coordinating team meetings, facilitating information sharing, documenting follow-ups, providing progress updates, and ensuring alignment with APFS strategic objectives.

  • Ensure a smooth operational flow for onboarding new business and effectively managing in force business. This includes overseeing processes related to payment flow, regulatory compliance, collateral management, in-force experience management, audit support, and other related activities.

  • Identify opportunities to improve operational processes and implement solutions that enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Leverage AI tools to streamline workflows and identify opportunities for automation.

  • Provide training and mentorship to junior team members, supporting their development and equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to contribute effectively to the team.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, actuarial sciences, math, statistics, or related field.

  • The ideal candidate will have 5 – 8 years of experience working in an insurance or reinsurance environment.

  • Professional certifications or designations in relevant fields (e.g., FSA, CFA) are preferred.

  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Japanese is a plus.

  • Experience with AI tools.

  • Strong project management skills and a proven track record of successfully delivering projects on time while effectively managing resources and stakeholder expectations.

  • Exposure to middle / back-office activities in past roles including valuation, finance, compliance, or administration.

  • Solid understanding of the reinsurance financial solutions business.

  • Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate international projects across multiple time zones.

  • Advanced oral and written communication skills, allowing for clear explanation of complex concepts and collaboration with various stakeholders.

  • Ability to quickly adapt to new methods and perform effectively under tight deadlines and stressful conditions.

  • Proficient in setting goals and managing multiple tasks, clients, and projects simultaneously, with a strong capability to balance priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.

  • Ability to work well within a team environment and participate in department/team projects.
