Business Development Manager - West Coast

Hours are 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday thru Friday


The Business Development Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining profitable relationships with customers on behalf of the company and for actively prospecting for new accounts and maximizing sales potential with existing customers. As the Business Development Manager, you are the primary external representative of our organization; you must convey a sense of expertise in our products, services, and capabilities, as you serve as a key educator to our customers. The Business Development Manager will be expected to forecast sales within the given territory and will also be expected to meet performance targets on a quarterly/annual basis. Employee may perform other related duties as required to meet the ongoing needs of the organization


Essential Job Functions:

  • Communicate effectively with the sales team, customer service and the production team, informing and updating them regularly to guarantee that sales and customer objectives are met
  • Actively manage the current customer base within the territory maintaining good working relationships and developing new business opportunities.
  • Effectively present and discuss the products and services of the company, including the thermoforming process, and critical material specifications.
  • Perform territory and market assessments.
  • Develop a strategic sales plan that identifies target accounts and establishes contact with key individuals, leading to increased sales opportunities.
  • Contribute to annual marketing strategy in conjunction with the Director of Business Development and the sales team.
  • Keep current on industry and equipment technology.
  • Understand and comply with the sales system in place.
  • Follow systems and procedures outlined in the company manuals

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of outside sales experience, preferably in the medical device or plastics industry.
  • Must be bi-lingual, English and Spanish
  • Proven business analysis and judgment with the ability to proactively manage customers to meet sales objectives.
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate a sales message
  • Solid understanding of technical drawings and blueprints
  • Exceptional negotiating skills
  • Ability to build positive working relationships both internally and externally
  • Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills
  • Business related computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, CRM software, and ERP systems.
  • Ability to travel as required, estimate to be 50% or more.
