Job Summary 

The Upholsterer is responsible for completing inside upholstery work on various furniture pieces, including ottomans, chairs, recliners, loveseats, and sofas, in alignment with company quality standards. This role works within production schedules and supply availability to meet demand, with output expectations based on skill level.

Essential Job Duties 

  • Examines furniture frames to locate defects before beginning work.
  • Fits, installs, and secures material on frames using hand tools, power tools, glue, cement, and/or staples.
  • Builds custom upholstered furniture as needed.
  • Reads work orders and applies knowledge of materials to determine types and amounts required to cover each piece.
  • Completes projects based on priorities set by the Supervisor.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work area.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Roles 

  • Maintain brand standards on all produced upholstered products.
  • Meets customer expectations by adhering to specifications on upholstery orders.

Metrics 

  • Achieve upholstering no less than five pieces of furniture per day.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Three or more years of experience as an upholsterer
  • Ability to multi-task and manage many responsibilities and projects at one time.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to read production tickets. 
  • Excellent communication skills
