
Operator - Products Splitter
Job Description
We are seeking a safety-focused and detail-oriented Process Operator to join our team at the Galena Park Splitter, a petroleum condensate processing facility that separates condensate into products such as naphtha, kerosene, diesel, and gas oil.
This role is responsible for operating and maintaining crude condensate splitter units while ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations in compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM) standards and environmental, health, and safety requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of refinery or petrochemical processes, demonstrate sound judgment under pressure, and thrive in a team-oriented, 24/7 operational environment.
What You Will Do
- Operate and monitor crude condensate splitter units to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable performance.
- Adjust process parameters to meet production targets and maintain product quality.
- Utilize SCADA and Yokogawa DCS systems to monitor operations, respond to alarms, and optimize performance.
- Troubleshoot process issues and coordinate with maintenance teams to resolve equipment or operational concerns.
- Follow all Process Safety Management (PSM), OSHA, and company EHS standards and procedures.
- Respond to abnormal and emergency conditions, following established emergency response protocols.
- Perform routine inspections and assist with identifying and addressing equipment malfunctions or leaks.
- Record and maintain accurate operational data, including temperature, pressure, flow rates, and composition.
- Maintain documentation for operational activities, incidents, and maintenance work in compliance with regulatory and company standards.
- Collaborate with operators, shift leaders, supervisors, and maintenance personnel to ensure smooth shift transitions and communication.
- Participate in incident investigations and support continuous improvement efforts.
What You Need
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Process Technology or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in refinery or petrochemical operations (condensate splitter experience preferred).
Technical Knowledge & Skills:
- Proficiency with DCS/SCADA control systems and data analysis for troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of chemical processing and condensate splitting operations.
- Familiarity with OSHA PSM regulations; HAZWOPER and emergency response training preferred.
- Experience with Truck Management Systems (TMS 5/6/7) preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic computer systems.
Licenses & Certifications:
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to successfully complete all required PSM operator training and site-specific testing.

Physical & Working Conditions:

- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and on uneven surfaces while wearing required PPE (including FRC clothing).
- Willingness to work 12-hour rotating shifts (day/night), including overtime, weekends, holidays, and on-call schedules.
- Ability to respond to emergencies at any time and participate in Emergency Response Team activities.
- Must meet the physical requirements to become a member of the Emergency Response Team and respond to emergencies when required.
- Regular use of a company cell phone for call-outs and extended operational support.
