A privately held heavy civil construction company with more than 30 years of industry success is seeking an experienced and motivated Field Safety Coordinator to join our team. This position plays a critical role in supporting and promoting a strong safety culture across multiple construction projects and field operations.

We are looking for a hands-on safety professional who is passionate about jobsite safety, employee engagement, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Position Summary

The Field Safety Coordinator is responsible for supporting field operations through safety inspections, training, compliance monitoring, incident prevention, and employee education. This role works closely with project managers, superintendents, foremen, and field personnel to ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed consistently across active jobsites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular jobsite safety inspections and audits
  • Monitor compliance with company safety policies and OSHA regulations
  • Assist with development and implementation of site-specific safety plans
  • Lead safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing safety training programs
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns and assist with corrective actions
  • Maintain safety documentation, reports, inspections, and training records
  • Promote a proactive safety culture throughout field operations
  • Support field leadership in identifying and mitigating workplace hazards
  • Coordinate with project teams to ensure safe work practices are maintained
  • Monitor subcontractor safety compliance when applicable
  • Assist with workers’ compensation reporting and return-to-work coordination
  • Stay current with industry safety standards and regulatory requirements

Qualifications

  • Previous construction safety experience required; heavy civil construction experience strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards
  • OSHA 30 certification required; additional safety certifications preferred
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in both office and field environments
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and electronic reporting systems
  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed
