Job Title: Truck Driver

Department: Operations

Reports To: Operations Division Manager

Summary Drives truck with capacity of more than 3 tons, to transport materials to and from specified destinations, by performing the following duties.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Drives truck to destination.

 

Prepares receipts for load picked up.

 

Maintains truck log, according to state and federal regulations.

 

Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.

 

Loads and unloads truck or assists company employees.

 

Inspects truck for defects before and after trips and informs management as to necessary corrections.

 

Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.

 

Performs emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains, and spark plugs.

 

Positions blocks and ties rope around items to secure cargo during transit.

Education and/or Experience 

 

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

 

Language Skills 

 

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

 

Mathematical Skills 

 

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

 

Reasoning Ability 

 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations 

 

Valid CDL class A with doubles, triples and air brakes endorsements required.
