Job Description

U.S. Bank is seeking a Communications Lead for its institutional businesses: Institutional Client Group (ICG) and Payments: Merchant and Institutional (PMI), which deliver integrated banking, treasury, credit, and payments solutions to corporate, institutional, and public-sector clients. This role reports to the Executive Vice President of Public Affairs & Communications and acts as a trusted strategic advisor to ICG and PMI leadership. This role partners closely with senior leaders and cross functional teams to lead internal and external communication strategies that support growth, transformation, and organizational effectiveness.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and lead communication strategies aligned to business objectives and enterprise priorities

  • Develop and execute internal and external communications, including media relations, thought leadership, and executive messaging

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, providing counsel on stakeholder messaging, reputation management, issues management, and strategic positioning

  • Partner with Public Affairs, Marketing, Government Relations, and business leaders to ensure enterprise alignment and brand consistency.

  • Lead storytelling that highlights client impact, institutional initiatives, and market leadership

  • Measure and report on communications effectiveness, using insights to refine strategy and demonstrate business value

  • Lead and develop a high-performing communications team, ensuring high-quality execution.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in corporate communications/public affairs; financial services experience preferred

  • Five or more years of management experience

  • Prior service leading communications at a large, complex, B2B organization

  • Proven track record supporting senior executives and leading communications during periods of transformation or growth

  • Strong executive presence and credibility with media and senior internal/external leaders

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong collaborator across Marketing, Government Relations, Public Policy, Operations, Legal and business lines

  • Strategic mindset with the ability to anticipate risk and opportunity

  • Ability to synthesize complex information into clear messaging

  • Strong judgment and decision-making capability

  • Influence and lead at the most senior levels

  • High emotional intelligence and integrity

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $170,255.00 - $200,300.00
