
RN Wound Specialist Outpatient PRN
Job Description
JOB SUMMARY: Under the general direction, this role will provide the full scope of wound care, ostomy, or continence and foot care nursing practice, including education, counseling, research, and administration. Evaluates and develops an individualized plan of care and coordinates supply ordering and referrals to other services as needed. Serves as the clinical resource for the care and treatment of the patient population.
Work Experience
Education & Training: Associates degree required and BSN must be attained within two (2) years of hire. BSN preferred. Active Maryland RN license. Wound certification or experience as a wound, skin and/or Ostomy nurse is preferred. Must obtain wound certification within two (2) years from date of hire.
Work Orientation & Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of acute care/inpatient clinical wound care experience or outpatient wound care experience. Working knowledge of WOC nursing practice concepts and Chronic Wound Guidelines.
Skills & Abilities: Ability to: (a) handle multiple priorities; (b) work independently and take initiative in achieving Center’s goals. Demonstrated skills in: (a) strong clinical nursing practice and judgment; (b) making effective decisions; (c) problem-solving; (d) crises management; (e) organizing work; (f) attention to detail and follow-through; (g) assist Director with policy and protocol research and development; and (h) effective negotiation skills (i) adapt hours of availability to the variable and changing needs of the department (j) travel between the two campuses as needed.
