Senior Accountant
Position Summary
The Senior Accountant is a key member of the accounting team responsible for executing and supporting the month-end close process, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial results, and maintaining compliance with U.S. GAAP. This role performs accounting activities, supports general accounting matters, and partners cross-functionally to deliver timely and insightful financial information. The Senior Accountant also contributes to process improvement initiatives and supports audit and reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations & Close
- Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring completeness and accuracy in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Perform and review account reconciliations, resolving reconciling items timely and accurately
- Execute key components of the month-end close process, including areas requiring judgment and analysis
- Assist in maintaining and improving close schedules, checklists, and supporting documentation
- Perform flux analysis and investigate variances compared to prior periods and budgets
- Support preparation of internal financial reports and management reporting packages
Systems, Process Improvement & Controls
- Support accounting systems and tools (e.g., Spectrum, FloQast, Prophix, etc) to enhance reporting efficiency
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and standardization and work collaboratively with others to execute on these
- Ensure adherence to internal control processes and assist in strengthening control documentation
- Maintain organized, audit-ready schedules and ensure they are accurate and complete
Audit & External Reporting
- Support annual financial statement audits and other external engagements
- Prepare audit schedules upon request in a timely and organized manner
Business Partnership & Collaboration
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Treasury, Tax, and Operations
- Communicate accounting results and issues clearly
- Provide support on ad hoc analyses, special projects, and strategic initiatives
Qualifications
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred
Experience
- 3–6+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Public accounting and/or large company experience preferred
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Experience with Spectrum, Prophix, FloQast, Microsoft products preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
