Job Description
Essential Job Function:
- Reviews patient needs and conditions to deliver nursing care in assigned clinical settings to ensure that every patient receives the direct and proper care needed.
- Analyzes patient information, including medical history, diagnostic results, and current condition, to develop individualized nursing care plans.
- Prepares nursing processes, such as medication administration, management and access of vascular devices and treatments to provide comprehensive and effective patient care.
- Administers medications and treatments, follows established protocols and guidelines to ensure safe handling of hazardous/non-hazardous medications, to ensure patient and staff safety.
- Reconciles medical records to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
- Evaluates patient response to interventions and identifies any additional interventions needed to meet defined goals of care.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary care team to ensure effective care planning.
- Serves as a knowledgeable resource and mentor, providing guidance, education, and support to colleagues and staff members to promote a culture of continuous learning.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Required: Associate degree in nursing, For Oncology RNs Specialty Competency eligible within 3 months of hire.
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, For Oncology RNs Specialty Competency eligible within 3 months of hire.
Experience:
- Required: 1 year as a Registered Nurse with 1 year in a clinical specialty hired as defined by ANCC or national nursing organization.
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a Compact state BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
- Preferred: Certification in Specialty eligible within 1 year of hire.
