BAE Systems Space and Mission Systems (SMS) is seeking a seeking a strategic and technically astute Wire Harness/Cable Assembly Commodity Buyer to manage complex procurement activities, driving strategic supplier partnerships to secure high-quality fab to print assemblies at competitive costs. In this high-level role, you will leverage your expertise to maintain strategic partnerships, optimize costs, and mitigate risks in a highly dynamic market.
The ideal candidate blends technical knowledge of fab to print technical procurements with expert-level negotiation, ERP proficiency, and proactive supply chain management to support production requirements and new product introductions. This role will lead initiatives supporting SMS programs in Direct procurements.
This position is category-specific, focused on wire harness and cable assemblies, but will also leverage general strategic sourcing knowledge to apply best practices across key areas of spend.

The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution – from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.

What You’ll Do:
- Procure custom cable assemblies, wire harnesses, and electromechanical components.
- Source specialized materials, connectors, and terminals aligned with industry standards.
- Develop and implement supply chain strategies to optimize procurement processes and ensure cost-effective sourcing of materials and supplies.
- Manage the end-to-end procurement cycle for cable assembly components, including wires, connectors, terminals, sleeving, and shrink tubing.

- Evaluate, negotiate with, and manage a network of suppliers.
- Drive supplier scorecard metrics regarding on-time delivery (OTD), quality, and responsiveness.
- Partner directly with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to ensure supplier parts fit assembly requirements and resolve any non-conformance discrepancies.
- Generate and expedite Purchase Orders (POs). Resolve shipment discrepancies, invoice issues, and Return Merchandise Authorizations.
- Execute RFx processes in alignment with strategic sourcing guidelines.
- Identify procurement compliance requirements and obtain necessary approvals.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus 4 or more years related experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $82779 - $140723

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
