Job Description
The Director of Quality & EHS defines and continuously improves the company-wide Quality and EHS strategy, owns the integrated management system (Quality, Environment, Energy, and EHS), and ensures compliance with corporate objectives, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory standards. Reporting to the Vice President Operations, the role drives a strong culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement and serves as a key advisor representing the company toward customers, authorities, and other external stakeholders on quality- and risk-related matters.
Key Responsibilities:
Define and continuously improve company-wide Quality & EHS strategy, policies, standards, and governance
Set long-term Quality & EHS objectives aligned with business strategy and ensure systematic tracking and achievement
Own and develop the integrated management system; ensure compliance with applicable standards and legal requirements
Deploy Quality & EHS requirements across all affiliated sites and ensure consistent implementation
Ensure ongoing compliance with customer requirements, regulatory obligations, and internal governance
Drive performance through KPI-based monitoring and continuous improvement (e.g., COPQ, PPM, field claims), including management reviews
Plan, conduct, and oversee internal, customer, and certification/surveillance audits
Ensure effective corrective and preventive actions via robust root-cause analysis
Lead and support major customer complaints and claims; represent the company toward customers, insurers, and other parties
Drive initiatives to improve customer satisfaction and reduce quality- and EHS-related risks
Provide transparent KPI-based reporting to executive management; ensure documentation and traceability
Lead the Quality & EHS organization and talent development; build a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related field
10–15+ years of experience in Quality Management and/or EHS in a manufacturing environment
Several years of senior leadership experience in Quality and/or EHS
Strong expertise in integrated management systems, audits, regulatory compliance, and customer requirements
Familiar with core quality tools and methods (A3, Ishikawa/Fishbone, APQP, PFMEA, DOE, VSM)
Preferred qualification of six sigma blackbelt
Experience in multi-site and/or international manufacturing organizations (preferred)Strategic, systems-oriented mindset with strong analytical problem-solving skills
Strong communication, stakeholder management, and change leadership capability
Structured, resilient, execution-focused; fluent German (mandatory) and fluent English (written and spoken)
