Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Virtualization Engineer to design, implement, manage, and optimize virtualization infrastructure across the enterprise. The role requires deep expertise in VMware technologies and a comprehensive understanding of automation, scripting, and core infrastructure components including storage, networking, and security.
This role requires a collaborative mindset, strong communication skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally to deliver reliable, scalable virtual environments while driving best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain VMware-based virtualization infrastructure (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter)
- Manage and optimize virtual environments for performance, availability, and scalability
- Implement and maintain automation solutions using tools such as VMware Aria Automation and/or Aria Orchestrator
- Develop and maintain scripts for automation and operational efficiency
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to virtualization, storage, networking, and system performance
- Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, storage, and security teams on integrated solutions
- Participate in capacity planning, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management
- Create and maintain technical documentation, standards, and runbooks
- Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning efforts
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- Extensive hands-on experience with VMware technologies (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter)
- Strong understanding of virtualization concepts, high availability, and resource management
- Solid knowledge of:
- Storage systems (SAN/NAS, datastores, performance tuning)
- Networking concepts (VLANs, switching, routing, load balancing)
- Firewall and security principles
- Advanced troubleshooting skills across complex infrastructure layers
- Demonstrated experience leading technical initiatives or projects
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to quickly learn and apply enterprise AI tools and technologies to support technical workflows and business objectives.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Experience with VMware Aria Automation and/or Aria Orchestrator
- Scripting and automation experience using:
- PowerShell
- JavaScript
- YAML
- Experience with monitoring and performance tools
- Experience with Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization
- Experience with other Hypervisors or Virtualization platforms
