Overview

Location: Quincy, IL
Pay Range: $35.17 - $52.76 per hour | Based on Relevant Experience
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday – Friday, 7:00a.m - 4:00p.m.

About the Role:

The Certified Cardiac Sonographer performs diagnostic cardiovascular testing and ultrasound procedures to support physicians in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of cardiac conditions. This role is responsible for producing accurate, high-quality diagnostic studies while ensuring a safe, professional, and patient-centered experience.

 

This position plays an important role in supporting comprehensive cardiovascular care through technical expertise, clinical knowledge, and collaboration with providers and care teams.

Primary Responsibilities:

Perform echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms, treadmill testing, Holter and event monitor placement, blood pressure monitoring, pulse oximetry testing, pacemaker checks, and other non-invasive cardiac diagnostic procedures according to physician orders and department protocols. Prepare patients for procedures by obtaining relevant history, explaining the testing process, and ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout testing. Demonstrate understanding of normal and abnormal cardiac hemodynamics and recognize situations requiring escalation to providers or emergency intervention. Document patient data and testing results accurately and timely per departmental standards and within EPIC. Assist with maintenance, cleaning, and quality control of equipment, while ensuring adequate supply inventory. Maintain current knowledge and continuing education in cardiac sonography and non-invasive cardiovascular testing. Collaborate effectively with providers, nursing staff, and other team members to support efficient workflow and high-quality patient care.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an approved diagnostic ultrasound program required
  • ARDMS certification with RDCS credentials required upon hire or within the first year of employment
  • Previous echocardiography experience preferred; two years of experience in echocardiography preferred
  • Current CPR/BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred
  • Strong understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and hemodynamics
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and patient care skills
  • Proficiency with computer systems and ability to learn EPIC
