Position Purpose
The purpose of this position is to work with the Executive Director of Special Services and District Special Education Coordinators, Speech and Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and Physical Therapists to provide leadership, coordination, and professional support for related service staff within the district.
Essential Functions
- Serve as the primary point of contact for team questions, support, and discipline-specific consultation.
- Provide problem-solving support and guidance to staff regarding best practices and evidence-based interventions.
- Assist with mentoring, coaching, onboarding, and transition activities for new staff members.
- Organize agendas and support department or team meetings, PLCs, and collaborative planning activities.
- Oversee and maintain department inventories, resources, testing materials, and/or AAC supplies.
- Monitor accountability logs, service documentation, and Medicaid compliance expectations.
- Review district trends and data for district compliance.
- Monitor team caseloads and assist with staffing recommendations and workload distribution.
- Collaborate with special education administration regarding staffing, programming, and department needs.
- Support therapy scheduling and organization of service delivery.
- Conduct and/or coordinate evaluations and specific transfer reviews.
- Assist in planning and facilitating professional development opportunities for staff.
- Assist in PreK transition assessments and coordinate related processes
- Maintain effective communication and collaboration with district personnel, staff, and administration.
- Assist with dissemination of information from District Special Education Office/Central Office
- Meet with District Special Education Leadership on a scheduled basis
Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the District Special Education Leadership and other Central Office Administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Equipment
Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
Travel Requirements
Travels to school buildings and professional meetings as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of state and federal special education laws, rules and guidelines
- Knowledge and use of therapy theories, models of practice, principles, and evidence-based practice to guide intervention decisions.
- Knowledge of Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Section 504, and other federal and state laws and regulations regarding education and students, and therapy practice in schools.
- Knowledge and skills in completing special education due process paperwork
- Evidence of strong organizational skills
- Evidence of strong oral and written communication skills
- Proficient in basic computer programs (Google Suite) needed for successful job performance (others could include APSCN, TRIAND, eSchool, special education software)
- Knowledge and skills in leading collaborative team meetings as part of the PLC process
- Successful experience in supporting and coaching adult learners
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Certification/License
Arkansas State Certification to practice in an area that meets the position's essential duties and responsibilities
Education
Degree in Special Education, Speech Language Pathology, Occupational or Physical Therapy, or related field; MSE/Admin preferred
Experience
Successful prior experience in one or more disciplines is a plus.
