Summer Mechanic Intern - Hourly
***All tools and uniforms are provided by the school district.***
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
With direction, provide a wide range of technical services on fleet vehicles such as perform preventative maintenance, as well as repairing and replacing parts. Complete and document all required forms and reports.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform vehicle and equipment inspections based on mileage or hour meter reading as suggested by manufacturer.
- Repair and replace tires, perform oil changes and check fluid levels.
- Ability to do clear and concise paperwork including parts and repair orders.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to undertake responsibilities with some initiative and judgment.
- Help maintain shop cleanliness.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
- Safely lift vehicles and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoist.
- Can perform a DOT pre trip inspection.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Basic knowledge of mechanics, hand tools, shop equipment and vehicle components.
- Familiar with oil change and grease.
- Current CDL or will obtain CDL (Obtain within three months of hire date.)
- Preferred experience within industry.
- Preferred training within industry.
