Summary

This position is a unique opportunity to build upon the successful completion of a $25 million capital campaign and help lead Reserve Care into its next chapter of transformational growth, including expanded programs and services, campus development and a broader geographic reach. Reporting to the President and CEO (CEO), the President of the Reserve Care Foundation (President) is a member of Reserve Care’s executive leadership team and works collaboratively to align philanthropic strategies with short- and long-term organizational priorities. This role will help shape the future philanthropic vision and long-term sustainability of Reserve Care as the organization continues expanding its programs, services and community impact throughout Northern Ohio. As a strategic senior leader energized by building relationships with new and existing supporters, the President will capitalize on the unprecedented momentum and increased visibility generated through Reserve Care’s recent rebranding and opening of its new eastside care center. The Foundation’s mission is to provide philanthropic resources for the continued growth and success of Reserve Care and its affiliates. The President is a visionary leader able to inspire confidence among donors, board members, colleagues and community partners. This role provides executive leadership for all philanthropic activities while leading a growing development team and personally cultivating key donor relationships. This position is accountable for multimillion-dollar annual fundraising goals, organizational engagement, team development, and board and stakeholder partnership.

Key Responsibilities

The Foundation President will lead a comprehensive philanthropy program designed to advance Reserve Care’s mission, strategic priorities and long-term sustainability. 

• Partners with the CEO, Boards of Directors, development directors, team members and volunteers to develop and implement strategies that increase philanthropic support for the organization. 

• Develops long-range and annual development and campaign plans and recommends implementation strategies aligned with organizational strategic goals. 

• Oversees all fundraising efforts, including direct mail, annual giving, memorial and endowment programs, third-party fundraisers, special events, major and planned giving, foundation and corporate support, matching and in-kind gifts, and memorial walk programs. 

• Collaborates with organizational leaders to secure philanthropic support for strategic initiatives, research and program development. 

• Personally manages and grows a portfolio of high-capacity donors and prospects through active identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies. 

• Develops meaningful long-term relationships with donors capable of making six- and seven-figure philanthropic investments. 

• Partners closely with executive leadership and board members in major gift strategy and donor engagement activities. 

• Builds and sustains relationships with donors, community partners, foundations, corporations and civic leaders throughout Northern Ohio. 

• Serves as a visible ambassador for Reserve Care throughout the community and actively represents the organization at civic, philanthropic and community events. 

• Coordinates the work of advisory committees and councils in support of organizational and Foundation priorities. 

• Ensures accurate and effective reporting mechanisms to evaluate fundraising performance and oversees the collection and maintenance of accurate donor and prospect records. 

• Monitors fundraising outcomes and provides reporting and strategic insights to the CEO and Boards of Directors. 

• Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations, laws and ethical fundraising standards while maintaining accountability and operational excellence. 

• Supervises a seven-member development team, including three directors and additional staff as assigned; provides leadership development, coaching, mentorship and performance management. 

• Interviews, hires and evaluates staff in accordance with organizational policies and procedures. 

• Promotes and integrates volunteer engagement into fundraising and community outreach efforts. 

• Manages Foundation resources responsibly within approved budget parameters. 

• Oversees the development of fundraising literature and program materials in collaboration with marketing, communications and professional relations teams. 

• Keeps informed of emerging trends and best practices in philanthropy, nonprofit leadership and healthcare fundraising. 

• Develops and maintains relationships with professional colleagues and industry organizations. 

• Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications, Education, Expertise and Knowledge

• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in business, nonprofit management, healthcare administration, public administration or a related field preferred. 

• Minimum of 12 years of progressive senior-level development and fundraising experience, including supervisory responsibility and demonstrated revenue growth across multiple funding streams. 

• Demonstrated success leading comprehensive capital, annual and major gift campaigns, including campaign strategy development, donor engagement and stewardship. 

• Proven ability to secure and steward leadership-level philanthropic investments, including six- and seven-figure gifts. • Experience working closely with boards and committees in a nonprofit or healthcare environment. 

• Deep knowledge of development operations and fundraising strategies, including major gifts, planned giving, foundation relations and corporate partnerships. 

• Working knowledge of Northern Ohio philanthropy and the regional nonprofit landscape. 

• Established relationships within Northern Ohio philanthropic and civic communities preferred. 

• Ability to plan, organize and direct a broad range of fundraising programs and initiatives aligned with organizational strategic goals. 

• Ability to effectively represent the organization at the local, state and national levels. 

• Exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. 

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of the organization and community. 

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. 

• Ability to maintain accurate and confidential records and information. 

• Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record and automobile insurance meeting Reserve Care requirements. 

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint and Excel, as well as donor management software.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to ten (10) pounds of force occasionally and some light work and lifting requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds occasionally; work requires sitting, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, standing, fingering, grasping and repetitive motions; vocal communication; hearing, and visual acuity. Employee is not subject to adverse environmental conditions.
