Summary:
The Head Start Enrollment & Intake Specialist is responsible for conducting in-person interviews and intakes for all applicants to the Head Start program. This role ensures full compliance with the Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS), maintains accurate records, and upholds integrity and confidentiality throughout the intake process. The Head Start Enrollment and Intake Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring equitable and efficient access to services for eligible families.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-person interviews with all prospective Head Start families in a timely, culturally responsive, and professional manner with the highest standards of confidentiality.
- Ensure all intakes are conducted in compliance with applicable Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS), including documentation, timelines, and eligibility verification.
- Maintain up-to-date, accurate, and confidential virtual records for each applicant, ensuring alignment with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Use GoEngage and other approved systems to input and track applicant data with fidelity.
- Provide clear communication to families regarding the next steps in the enrollment process and available program supports.
- Collaborate with program staff to ensure smooth coordination of services following intake, including data verification and eligibility determination.
- Participate in training, supervision, and professional development related to family engagement, compliance, and HSPPS updates.
- Support continuous improvement by identifying and reporting trends, barriers, and opportunities for process enhancement in the intake system.
- Ensure all assigned responsibilities contribute to program compliance and quality as outlined in the HSPPS and CCIU Head Start policies.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred
- Willingness to obtain the Strength Based Family Services Certificate, or similar, within one year required
- Bilingual (Spanish)/Bicultural strongly preferred
Professional or Other Required Clearances
- Valid Driver's License required
- Current police, child abuse, FBI fingerprint, and NSOR clearances within 1 year required
Schedule:
260 day position, 7.5 hours per day, 5 days per week
Anticipated Salary Range:
Project, Level 13, $62,046 - $77,557/yr.
*Placement on scale commensurate to years of experience in similar positions*
