Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Business Administrator is responsible for managing administrative, financial, procurement, and human resources functions for the department. This position ensures efficient daily operations by
overseeing payroll, budgeting, purchasing, contract administration, and HR-related processes including onboarding, timekeeping, and personnel support.
The role requires strong organizational, analytical, and customer service skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced public safety environment while ensuring compliance with district policies and applicable laws.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Reviews, verifies, and processes employee time, attendance, and payroll records to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies
• Maintains payroll, financial, procurement, and personnel records in compliance with district procedures
• Generates, analyzes, and prepares reports, spreadsheets, presentations, and operational documentation to support decision-making
• Processes invoices, requisitions, purchase orders, contracts, and related financial transactions
• Assists with procurement activities, including bids, quotes, vendor coordination, and contract administration
• Ensures compliance with procurement standards, district policies, and applicable regulations
• Supports recruitment, onboarding, background checks, credentialing, and maintenance of employee records
• Monitors employee attendance, leave, and timekeeping while serving as liaison between departments and Human Resources
• Tracks and reconciles temporary staffing hours, invoices, certifications, and compliancerelated records
• Provides customer service, administrative support, and communication with internal and external stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information
• Required to have prompt, regular attendance in person and be available to work on-site during regular business hours and as needed
• Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator or their representative
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Knowledge of accounting, payroll, procurement, and human resources principles, practices, and compliance requirements
• Knowledge of payroll processing, timekeeping systems, and applicable laws and regulations
• Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and time and attendance platforms (e.g., Lawson, UKG/Kronos)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Skill in maintaining accurate financial, payroll, procurement, and personnel records with strong attention to detail
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Effective written, verbal, customer service, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
• Ability to prepare reports, spreadsheets, presentations, and related documentation
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively while supporting staff on administrative, payroll, procurement, and HR-related processes
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university required

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
• Valid State of Georgia Driver's License or proof of equivalent mobility
• Must obtain appropriate certification or license per department requirements
WORK EXPERIENCE:
• Two (2) years of experience performing business, financial, or administrative functions.
• Experience supporting human resources functions (e.g., onboarding, payroll, timekeeping, employee records) preferred
• Experience in K�12 education or public sector preferred

Salary Grade: 121

Must exert over 100 pounds of force occasionally, over 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or over 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Additional Work Conditions & Physical Abilities: Will require travel to multiple sites. Extended hours may be required depending on each situation. Must understand and have full knowledge of the occupational hazards in using power tools and equipment and of necessary safety precautions. Requires extensive safety training and/or protective devices.
