Job Description
The Assistant Project Manager supports the planning, coordination, documentation, and successful completion of commercial waterproofing and restoration projects. This role assists the Project Manager with estimating, scheduling, procurement, project communication, field coordination, submittals, change orders, closeout documents, and overall project administration.
The Assistant Project Manager may support multiple projects at one time and must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to communicate effectively with owners, consulting engineers, vendors, foremen, crews, and internal team members.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Project Manager in managing commercial waterproofing and restoration projects to ensure all scopes of work are completed according to industry standards, project specifications, safety requirements, and company expectations.
- Review and analyze drawings, specifications, project details, and scope requirements.
- Assist with preparing comprehensive bids, estimates, and project proposals.
- Perform accurate take-offs for materials, labor, equipment, and project scope requirements.
- Help collect and maintain current vendor pricing for materials, tools, equipment, and subcontracted services.
- Assist in procuring materials, tools, equipment, and supplies needed for active projects.
- Ensure materials are properly documented with purchase orders and related paperwork.
- Support the preparation and tracking of submittals, RFIs, change orders, product data, shop drawings, warranties, closeout documents, and other project-related documentation.
- Communicate project details, scope clarifications, material requirements, schedule updates, and owner expectations to the Project Manager, Foreman, and field crews.
- Assist with scheduling and coordination between ownership teams, consulting engineers, vendors, foremen, and crews.
- Make site visits as needed to review project progress, verify field conditions, support the Foreman, and help ensure updated plans and expectations are being followed.
- Monitor and document project progress, including substantial completion dates, final completion dates, punch list items, and project closeout requirements.
- Assist with final inspections, warranty documentation, closeout packages, and service punch lists.
- Help maintain organized project files, including contracts, drawings, correspondence, pricing, purchase orders, change orders, RFIs, and closeout documents.
- Operate and care for company equipment, vehicles, and small tools when required.

Required Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read and understand commercial construction plans, specifications, details, and project documents.
- Basic understanding of commercial waterproofing, restoration, construction methods, materials, and installation practices.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety procedures and jobsite safety requirements.
- Ability to assist with creating accurate estimates and take-offs.
- Experience or working knowledge of Earned Value Management, project cost tracking, scheduling, or construction project controls preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and construction or commercial estimating software.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and project priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with project managers, foremen, field crews, owners, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Self-motivated, dependable, and willing to learn.
- Ability to support both active projects and projects in the bidding, pre-construction, and closeout phases.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, business, or a related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of related construction, waterproofing, restoration, estimating, or project coordination experience preferred.
- Commercial construction experience is strongly preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to visit active construction jobsites as needed.
- Ability to walk jobsites, climb stairs or ladders when necessary, and safely navigate active construction environments.
