Brand Manager Position Overview
The Brand Manager leads the development and execution of brand strategy and integrated marketing plans that strengthen awareness, preference and referral growth. This is a working leader role that blends strategic planning with hands-on execution across campaigns, content, digital experiences, community engagement and internal brand alignment, in close partnership with clinical, operations, business development, HR and vendor teams.

Essential Functions and Skills
Responsibilities

  • Brand expertise: Strong knowledge of brand fundamentals, including positioning, voice, tone, visual identity systems and storytelling.
  • Audience insight: Solid understanding of consumer behavior and the creative briefing process.
  • Player-coach leadership: Ability to balance people leadership, creative judgment, and enterprise brand implementation while leading the graphic design function.
  • Own brand strategy and positioning: Maintain clear brand architecture, messaging frameworks, and visual standards that reflect our mission and differentiate our hospice services and employer brand.
  • Plan and execute integrated campaigns: Support annual marketing plans across paid, owned, and earned channels—including digital, social, email, print, community outreach, and events—to drive awareness, referral growth, and recruitment traffic.
  • Strengthen the referral and recruitment journey: Partner with Business Development to align messaging, sales enablement materials, and experiences for hospital, clinic, and community referral partners. Partner with Talent Acquisition to build employer brand and increase recruitment engagement.
  • Lead visual content and storytelling: Translate sensitive topics into meaningful, engaging content across print, web, social, video, and internal communications.
  • Manage the digital brand experience: Improve branding and visual representation across tools, materials, and channels while ensuring accessibility and a clear, compassionate, engaging experience.
  • Protect brand and compliance: Ensure marketing materials align with privacy, consent and healthcare marketing standards; partner with compliance and legal as needed.
  • Guide creative development: Lead creative briefs, reviews, and approvals with internal teams and external partners; ensure quality, consistency, and timely delivery.
  • Use insights to optimize: Track and analyze performance across awareness, leads, referral support, and recruitment engagement; report results and refine work based on data and feedback.
  • Support internal brand adoption: Create toolkits and training that help teams communicate consistently and represent the brand well internally and externally.
  • Create and approve design content: As a working leader, fulfill day-to-day design needs by creating graphics, tools, and materials for the organization.
  • Manage budgets and vendors: Oversee brand and design budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships to deliver high-impact work efficiently.
  • Drive innovation: Evaluate, propose and implement approved AI and other tools to improve efficiency, strengthen design and branding and differentiate the organization.
  • Improve team efficiency and effectiveness: Streamline design processes by improving workflows, cataloging shared assets, and standardizing templates to increase efficiency, consistency, and turnaround time.
  • Serve as a collaborative partner: Collaborate with team members and stakeholders across the organization to clarify requirements, reduce revisions, and keep projects moving smoothly from concept through final delivery.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Business or a related field, and/or 5-7 years of progressive marketing and brand experience, including substantial graphic design, campaign planning, and content development.
  • Portfolio of work showcasing knowledge of brand fundamentals, including positioning, voice, tone, visual identity systems and storytelling; and strong writing and editing skills with an audience-appropriate voice.
  • Experience managing vendors or agencies and coordinating multiple stakeholders in a matrixed environment; and comfort working in a fast-growing organization..
  • Comfort with performance measurement, including web analytics, marketing metrics and campaign reporting, AI, and the ability to use data to improve outcomes.
  • High attention to detail, strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Healthcare marketing and communications experience a plus but not required.
  • This role may be in person or hybrid in the Minneapolis–St. Paul area, based on business needs, with occasional local travel to events, meetings and team gatherings across the Midwest.

  • May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases. Contact with patients under wide variety of circumstances. May be exposed to/occasionally exposed to patient elements. Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. Travel required. OSHA exposure category: Category I - Position includes tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues. Category II - Position includes tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues, but employment may require unplanned Category I tasks. Category III - Position includes tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues; would not be required to perform Category I tasks.

The salary range for this role is $90,000 - $105,000/annually. An employee’s actual annual salary will be based on but not limited to: geographic location, relevant education, applicable certifications, depth of experience, and special skillsets. The total compensation package for this position may also include the opportunity to participate in employee benefits including our medical/dental/vision/pet insurance, disability and life insurance, paid time off, and 401(k) retirement plans, subject to applicable plan terms, and/or eligibility for other compensation.
