We are seeking a Strategic Communications Project Manager to join HDR’s Strategic Communications program in support of Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise (FTE). This role will focus on internal communications and operational coordination for FTE’s Operations Center on the Suncoast Parkway.


As part of a global team of communicators dedicated to putting people first in infrastructure, you will help shape and deliver clear, effective communication strategies that support operational excellence and organizational alignment. This position requires close coordination with the Operations Center Manager and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across the FTE program.
 

In this role, you will serve as an Internal Communications Project Manager —developing messaging, supporting decision-making through briefings, and ensuring consistent, proactive communication across Operations Center initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate closely with the Operations Center Manager to support day-to-day communication needs and strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and implement internal communication strategies aligned with Operations Center priorities.
  • Draft and manage initiative strategies, briefings, and executive-level communication materials.
  • Attend and actively participate in Operations Center meetings, providing communication insights and documentation.
  • Ensure consistency and clarity of messaging across Operations Center activities and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with HDR and client teams to align communication efforts with broader FTE program goals.
  • Support planning and execution of internal engagement efforts and operational communications.

     

     

Project Management & Team Responsibilities:

  • Manage assigned communication tasks, schedules, and deliverables in accordance with HDR project management protocols.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely and high-quality deliverables.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with client staff and HDR team members.
  • Track progress and proactively identify communication risks or issues.
  • Work with the FTE Internal Communication team to prioritize program-related tasks and the development of strategic communications initiatives.
     

Travel Expectations:

  • This role requires regular in-person coordination at the Suncoast Parkway Operations Center, with an expectation of approximately 30% on-site presence.
     

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Strong experience in internal communications, preferably within infrastructure, transportation, or operations environment.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with experience preparing executive-level materials.
  • Ability to translate complex operational information into clear, actionable messaging.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with technical and operational teams.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities

 

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • 7 years related experience
  • A minimum of 2 years project management experience
  • Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
