Job Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Maintenance staff is responsible for the general maintenance, repair, and safe operation of South County Academy buildings and property. This role ensures buildings, equipment, and systems remain functional, well maintained, and clean.
SPECIFIC DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Facility Maintenance:

Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on buildings, equipment, and grounds.

Assures that both the building facilities and grounds of South County Academy are clean and sanitary in accordance with agency standards
-
Maintain minor plumbing, electrical, HVAC,
-
Respond to maintenance requests from staff and residents in a timely manner.
-
Inspect facilities regularly to identify maintenance needs or safety concerns.
-
Work as part of a team to support the overall functioning of the program and ensure that all Policies and Procedures are followed
-
Provides decorating and renovation services
Preventive Maintenance:
-
Perform scheduled inspections of:
-
HVAC systems
-
Boilers and heating systems
-
Plumbing fixtures
-
Lighting and electrical systems
-
Maintain preventive maintenance logs and inspection records.
Repairs & Troubleshooting
-
Diagnose and repair issues related to:
-
Electrical outlets and lighting
-
Plumbing leaks and fixtures
-
Doors, locks, and windows
-
Appliances
-
Carpentry, drywall and painting
-
Furniture assembly
-
Per supervisor’s request coordinate with outside contractors when specialized repairs are required.
Safety & Compliance
-
Ensure facilities comply with safety regulations and local building codes.
-
Maintain clear walkways, exits, and emergency access points.
-
Overseeing fire drills and facility specific policies
-
Maintain confidentiality of client/family
-
Provide sensitivity to client/family cultural, ethnic, racial and socioeconomic issues and diversity
-
Serve as a positive role model to client and colleagues
-
Maintains compliance with FSRI policies, including those relating to HIPAA and all state and federal agencies, including DCYF
-
Participates in all meetings as required by the team, supervisors and that are necessary for the role both internally and externally
-
Attend and participate in all required program and agency trainings
-
Approaches all work through a trauma and diversity and inclusion lens
-
Performs additional responsibilities consistent with Agency needs, defined in consultation with supervisor(s)
Grounds & Exterior Maintenance
-
Assist with snow removal, mowing and landscaping, salting, and general grounds maintenance.
-
Maintain exterior lighting and building access points.
-
Monitor building security and report concerns.
Administrative Duties
-
Manages the maintenance requests and purchasing tracking
-
Maintain maintenance logs, inspection reports, and work orders.
-
Track supplies, parts, and equipment inventory.
-
Communicate maintenance issues and updates to supervisor and site staff.
Qualifications
-
Experience in building maintenance, facilities management, or a related trade.
-
Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry and painting
-
Independent, organized individual who takes pride in creating an attractive environment for students and fellow staff
-
Ability to troubleshoot and repair common building issues.
-
Experience maintaining residential facilities or schools preferred .
-
Knowledge of fire door inspections, boiler systems, or HVAC systems preferred.

Performs other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires community visits, employees in this position must have the ability to:

Current driver’s license, reliable transportation, registration and auto insurance
-
Ability to communicate effectively
-
Travel to and from community locations and office site, which could include using walkways, stairs and/or elevators
-
Ability to lift up to 50lbs
Work Environment
-
Combination of indoor and outdoor work.
-
On-call or emergency response may be required.
