JOB TITLE: Physical Therapy Aide
ORGANIZATIONAL MISSION: The mission of Mid-State Health Center is to provide sound primary care to the community, accessible to all regardless of their ability to pay.
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The Physical Therapy Aide supports physical therapists and physical therapist assistants in delivering care to patients. This role involves preparing treatment areas, assisting patients with mobility, performing clerical duties, and maintaining a clean and organized clinical environment. The aide plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the clinic and enhancing the patient experience.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Director of Outpatient
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist patients in preparing for therapy sessions, including helping with movement and mobility as directed.
- Set up and clean treatment areas before and after sessions.
- Sanitize equipment and maintain inventory of supplies.
- Provide administrative support such as scheduling appointments, answering phones, and updating patient records.
- Escort patients to and from treatment rooms.
- Monitor patients during exercises to ensure safety and report concerns to the therapist.
- Perform light clerical and housekeeping tasks to support clinic operations.
- Other Duties as assigned
The jobholder must demonstrate current competencies applicable to the job position.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a healthcare or rehabilitation setting preferred but not required.
- Basic knowledge of physical therapy practices is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to lift and move patients and equipment safely.
- CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Work may require hand dexterity for office machine operation, stooping, bending, standing, walking and lifting throughout the shift. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires manual and finger dexterity; for things such as typing, using calculator, and eye-hand coordination.
ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in an clinical/rehabilitation setting. Work may be stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive.
