Accounting Manager

Job Summary

AITX is a leading provider of railcar services solutions, and as our fleet continues to expand, so do the needs of our accounting organization. We are seeking an Accounting Manager to drive accuracy, efficiency, and high-quality financial reporting across our growing portfolio. In this role, you will serve as a key member of the accounting team with responsibility for the timely and accurate accounting analysis, and reporting of leased assets. This hybrid position requires four days per week at our Saint Charles office, conveniently located off Historic Main Street.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage ASC 606 revenue operations by analyzing financial data, monitoring intercompany transfers, and tracking revenue abatements.
  • Prepare analytic summary of monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue fluctuations and trends.
  • Evaluate intercompany transactions and resolve imbalances across more than 50 entities through monthly settlement process.
  • Compile and review financial information to prepare journal entries and support month-end close activities for AITX.
  • Utilize ERP and billing system fleet and repair reports to conduct variance analysis and identify operational trends.
  • Monitor general ledger activity through account analysis and reconciliations, including reviewing and approving monthly balance sheet reconciliations using reconciliation platforms.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiencies within accounting procedures.
  • Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and operational issues in a timely manner.
  • Support ad hoc financial projects, audit requests, and leasing-related accounting activities as needed.
  • Perform additional accounting and administrative responsibilities as assigned.


Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) with the ability to apply accounting standards effectively in daily operations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including linked workbooks, data imports, complex formulas, and pivot table analysis.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Hands-on, detail-oriented professional with a strong commitment to accuracy and quality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across all organizational levels and functions.
  • Strong leadership, management, and supervisory capabilities with experience guiding teams and supporting employee development.
  • Proven ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team environment.

 

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of eight years of progressive accounting or finance experience required.
  • CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • MBA or Master’s degree in Accounting strongly desired.
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with balance sheet reconciliation platforms such as ADRA, Blackline, and/or Flowcast preferred.
  • Knowledge of foreign currency accounting and related transactions considered a plus.
