This engineering team focuses on delivering engaging, high-impact customer experiences within a large-scale e-commerce platform. The team supports critical buyer-facing journeys, including product detail pages and transactional experiences such as offers and auctions, across multiple product categories.

The platform handles billions of dollars in annual transaction volume and serves hundreds of millions of page views daily across global markets, devices, and browsers. As a result, performance, accuracy, real-time responsiveness, scalability, and high availability are essential.

Role Overview

As a Member of Technical Staff, the individual will act as a technical leader responsible for shaping the strategic direction of backend systems and platforms. This role involves working across teams to solve complex technical challenges, influencing long-term architectural decisions, and designing scalable, high-performance solutions that support business growth.

This position plays a key role in driving innovation across platform architecture, system design, and engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Translate business and product requirements into effective software designs and deliver clean, efficient, maintainable, and scalable code aligned with platform best practices
• Own and lead subsystems within a larger domain, taking full responsibility across the software development lifecycle (design, development, testing, deployment, observability, and monitoring)
• Influence and guide technical decision-making across teams and stakeholders
• Identify areas of change and design flexible, extensible systems to improve engineering velocity
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to deliver innovative, high-quality solutions
• Break down complex initiatives into manageable tasks and drive efficient execution
• Provide technical leadership through code reviews, mentorship, and best practice guidance
• Identify system gaps and improvement opportunities; contribute to roadmap planning and execution
• Lead efforts to improve end-to-end testing quality and accelerate delivery velocity
