| Work Year: 9 Months (177 Days / 8 Hours) |

SUMMARY: Operating under the general direction of the designated Principal and subject to the building operating policies of the Colorado Department of Youth Corrections, the employee performs a variety of clerical, secretarial, and administrative duties; some of which are unique to this school. Employee must work collaboratively with District and Corrections staff to ensure compliance deadlines are met and safety procedures are followed as educators provide educational services for detained youth. This position is a first point-of-contact for District staff, partner agencies, family, and students and must work cooperatively to facilitate these interactions.

| 1. Monitors and processes daily student registration, progress, and attendance data entries. Position requires the highest attention to detail and protocol processing students' admittance and release documents according to Colorado Department of Youth Corrections (DOC) and Colorado Board of Education (BOE) policies. Works with school districts across 18 counties tracking the location and updates for student records including but not limited to Special Education (SPed) and Individual Education Plans (IEP). Continuously fluctuating student enrollments requires vigorous attention to student record updates as well as the transfer of student files to and from Pupil Records, other Districts, and the Department of Youth Corrections as GMYSC. |
| 2. Supports the office/school traffic in collaboration with DOC's staff providing assistance across a variety of topics including but not limited to Board of Education and Department of Youth Corrections' policies and procedures. Duties include monitoring internal/external access including issuing keys, code entry systems, and other safety mechanisms specific to GMYSC. Oversees the school's telephone communications with customer service assistance provided to staff, parents, visitors, partner agencies, community members, and students. |
| 3. Provides administrative/secretarial support through a wide variety of operational tasks which may include but are not limited to, generating student progress reports, correspondence, scheduling meetings, making guest speaker arrangements, distributing mail, processing work orders, ordering supplies, creating annual enrollment packets, etc. |
| 4. Assists the teacher with classroom activities and skills practice periods when requested. At GMYSC the unique circumstances require employees to use creative collaboration and team work to provide the scope of services students require such as, tutoring, skills practice and one-on-one guidance. |
| 5. Performs the duties of the Health Assistant administering general first aid and prescribed medications according to DOC and District policies. Employee maintains staff certification records for Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) trainings and monthly monitoring of AED machine. |
| 6. Assists in the coordination of practice Safety Drills such as, fire, emergency, shelter-in-place, lock-down, etc. |
| 7. Performs other duties as assigned. |
EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent and including courses in office technology and office skills
- Minimum of one year clerical and/or secretarial experience in a school environment is required
- Oral bilingual skills English/Spanish are desirable
- Operating knowledge of student information software within 60 days of hire
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS:
- Criminal background check required for hire
- CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications within 60 days of hire
- Attend and successfully complete all staff development training as required by Department of Youth Corrections, state law or as directed by Administration

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE:
- Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals
- Operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment, such as, copier, fax machine, scanners, etc.
- Operating knowledge of and experience with office software such as word processing, spreadsheets, and email
