Job Overview:
The Financial Auditor will be responsible for the following functions: Conduct balance sheet reviews of both current and prospective MBFS financed customers, to verify that assets, liabilities and equity are accurately reported on their respective financial statements. The auditor will be responsible for conducting detailed examinations and analysis of financial records, transactions, and supporting documentation to verify their compliance with GAAP standards and internal policies. The Financial Auditor will also be responsible for performing compliance audits of lease line customers. These audits will include evaluating compliance with lending standards, encompassing documentation review, insurance verification, and operational areas such as credit underwriting, collections, and titling.
The position will work both independently, and as part of a team depending on size of dealership group and audits will be conducted both on site and remotely. Upon completion of field work the Financial Auditor will be responsible for conducting close-out meetings with both internal and external stakeholders and drafting a final audit report.
*Travel Requirement – 50%*
The position may occasionally include additional projects as assigned.
Responsibilities:
- Audit Performance: Lead and perform both on-site and remote balance sheet reviews, including Limited Financial Reviews (LFR), Financial Review Analyses (FRA), and Bank Cutoff (BCO) audits, of automotive dealership and fleet/lease customers in accordance with GAAP, with emphasis on working capital, net worth, net cash, and vehicle equity. Evaluate the accuracy of accounting entries and the adequacy of internal control systems, operating policies, and procedures. Audit Planning: Prepare and distribute engagement letters outlining the audit plan to both the dealer/fleet customer and the MBFS Dealer Credit Department prior to commencement of field work. Audit Reporting: Document audit findings, observations, and recommendations in clear and concise reports. Upon completion of field work, conduct close-out meetings with internal and external stakeholders and deliver a final audit report to both internal and external management. (70%)
Lease Line Compliance Audits: Perform lease line audits of fleet credit customers to evaluate compliance with MBFS lending requirements, encompassing documentation review, insurance verification, and operational areas such as credit underwriting, collections, and titling. Assessments will include the adequacy of internal control systems and operating policies and procedures. (20%)
Additional Projects:
Perform additional projects as assigned.
These may include, but are not limited to:
• Performing vehicle floorplan inventory and takeover audits.
Assisting the Wholesale Audit Manager and Wholesale Audit Analysts in the resolution of irregularities identified during completed physical audits. (10%)
Qualifications:
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. at the time of application. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this position.
This position requires a minimum of 3 years of overall work experience. Preferred experience includes:
- Accounting: 2 years
- Audit: 2 years
- Business-General: 2 years
- Communications Planning: 1 year
- Credit: 1 year
- Finance: 1 year
Education:
Bachelor's Degree is required. Master's Degree is preferred. Recommended majors include:
- Finance
- Accounting
- Economics
Required: Driver's License
Additional Knowledge:
- 1 year of Accounting experience preferred
Thorough understanding of accounting principles especially GAAP required
Sound knowledge of Dealer Credit or Fleet Credit preferred
2 years of Financial Audit experience preferred
