Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
To assist with the maintenance and refurbishment of relevant areas through construction,
installations, repairs, servicing, and other forms of Mechanical/Light Civil works throughout the
plant and associated facilities in accordance with sound Mechanical/Civil and Structural Standards
and work practices.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides skilled labour in the execution of Repairs, refurbishes, paints and services items
as assigned by the Supervisor/s or other management personnel, towards the upkeep and
improvement of the plant - Selects appropriate tools or equipment to perform required tasks and ensures high quality
of workmanship. - Adheres to organizational safety rules and regulations pertaining to the respective functions
of the department and ensures that work areas are maintained in accordance with good
housekeeping and safety practices. - Ensures that all equipment used are always maintained in good condition.
- Records on Work Requests, all information related to the job performed, time taken,
materials used etc. - Adheres to all Safety rules and regulations pertaining to respective functions of the
department. - Uses all materials efficiently and effectively and maintains all tools and equipment
assigned in a safe and good working condition. - Lubricates the plant and equipment in accordance with the maintenance department
lubrication schedule and by using recommended lubrication on each unit. - Maintains a proper checklist of lubricants in stock and advises the supervisor, in a timely
manner, when re-ordering is necessary - Stores equipment and lubricants safely and demonstrates caution and efficiency in
performing assigned duties. - Perform root cause analysis
- Performs other relevant functions as directed by Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- At least five (5) O' Level passes including Mathematics and English, or a sound secondary
education. - Practical training in the relevant disciplines.
- Certificate / Diploma from a Technical / Vocational/ Craft Institute.
- At least three (7) years' relevant work experience
- Performs routine jobs independently including breakdowns
- Taking Lead for routine overhaul jobs as well as non-routine overhaul jobs
- Provides a first level of supervision for jobs in Engineering
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Ability to use basic tools.
- Knowledge of relevant maintenance and repair techniques and practices.
- Ability to produce consistently high quality of work.
- Good verbal communication skills
- Efficient Time Management skills.
- Ability to operate all relevant machinery and equipment.
