Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sr. EHS Coordinator to support and lead environmental, health, and safety initiatives This role is responsible for the implementation, administration, training, and enforcement of plant-wide Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programs while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements and company standards.

The Sr. EHS Coordinator will play a critical role in fostering a strong safety culture by partnering closely with plant leadership, employees, contractors, and corporate teams. This position requires a hands-on professional who maintains a strong presence in the plant environment, proactively identifies risks, promotes compliance, and drives continuous improvement initiatives.

This position operates with minimal supervision and spends approximately 60% of the time in the plant environment. The role requires schedule flexibility, occasional travel, and the ability to respond effectively during emergency situations.
 

  • Implement, administer, and enforce plant-wide environmental, health, and safety programs.
  • Lead and champion employee safety training programs, including annual refresher training.
  • Maintain accurate and organized EHS documentation, training records, and compliance files.
  • Prepare and submit required MSHA and state regulatory reports.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental permits, regulations, and company policies.
  • Monitor plant activities to identify and address safety concerns and compliance issues.
  • Conduct industrial hygiene sampling and related monitoring activities.
  • Lead plant EHS committee meetings and initiatives.
  • Investigate incidents and maintain documentation within the IndustrySafe system.
  • Ensure compliance with company EHS requirements and standards.
  • Promote EHS awareness and employee engagement throughout the facility.
  • Build strong working relationships with hourly employees, plant leadership, and corporate teams.
  • Assist with emergency response efforts and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Stay current on emerging EHS regulations, industry trends, and best practices through ongoing professional development and regulatory engagement.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required along with 4–6 years of progressive Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) experience within mining, industrial, manufacturing, or heavy industrial operations.
  • Strong hands-on and knowledge of MSHA standards, regulations, inspections, reporting requirements, and compliance practices.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to develop clear, concise reports, procedures, and documentation.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and influence positive safety behaviors.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced industrial environment
  • Thorough understanding of EHS regulations, policies, and compliance requirements.
  • Hands-on experience working within MSHA-regulated environments.
  • Experience interfacing with MSHA inspectors and supporting plant inspections.
  • Knowledge of environmental permits, industrial safety programs, and health regulations.
  • Familiarity with plant operations, industrial equipment, and standard operating practices.
  • Experience supporting and delivering EHS training programs.
  • Ability to effectively partner with regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders.
  • Previous EHS experience in mining, aggregates, industrial manufacturing, or heavy industry environments.
  • Experience with environmental compliance, permits, and regulatory reporting (TCEQ).
  • Operations or plant environment experience preferred.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations and implementing corrective actions.
  • Strong commitment to safety leadership and continuous improvement.
