Position Overview

The Communications Specialist III develops, implements, and manages comprehensive communication strategies across digital, print, and social media platforms to promote the King Ranch® Institute for Ranch Management program and products. This position is responsible for creating engaging content, designing impactful marketing materials, and leading product development initiatives to effectively reach target audiences. The incumbent coordinates special events, manages multimedia production, and tracks project timelines, ensuring brand consistency and alignment with organizational goals. Under general supervision, the Communications Specialist III serves as a leader in producing informative and promotional materials for a wide variety of institutional priorities. The Communications Specialist III operates under a dual reporting structure, reporting to both the King Ranch Institute for Ranch Management and the Office of Marketing and Communications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Digital and Print Communications

  • Write, edit, design, and produce brochures, invitations, advertisements, flyers, newsletters, speeches, reports, podcasts, webinars, and other marketing collateral.

  • Edit and update content for departmental website.

  • Lead the development and implementation of a communications and advertising

Social Media Marketing

  • Develop and execute social media strategies for multiple platforms.

  • Create and schedule posts, monitor engagement, and analyze performance metrics.

  • Maintain brand voice and respond to inquiries/comments on social media.

Product Development

  • Collaborate with program leads to develop, design, and launch new informational and promotional products.

  • Conduct market research to identify opportunities for communication materials or products.

  • Oversee production timelines and costs.

Media Relations and Publicity

  • Write and distribute press releases.

  • Liaise with media outlets and coordinate interviews.

  • Track and report media coverage.

Event Promotion and Management

  • Plan, implement, and promote special events and programs.

  • Manage photography, videography, and video editing for events and communication products.

  • Coordinate publications and promotional materials with printers.

Reporting and Administrative Duties

  • Maintain a tracking system for project timelines, costs, and deliverables.

  • Prepare and submit progress reports.

  • Generates ideas for communication strategy improvements.

Required Qualifications

  • Education – Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience – Four years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience writing, designing, and producing promotional materials for the agriculture industry.

  • Experience managing digital marketing campaigns across web and social platforms.

  • Experience in video production and editing.

  • Advanced proficiency in graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and execute multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Ability to present information clearly and concisely.

  • Proficient in digital marketing tools, website CMS, analytics platforms, and social media management tools.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel spreadsheet applications.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Skilled in photography, videography, and video editing.

  • Ability to generate creative ideas for marketing and communications.

  • Familiarity with print production processes and vendor management.

Other Requirements

Physical Requirements

  • No specific physical requirements beyond standard office work.

  • May be required to move presentation materials or marketing collateral (up to 20 lbs.).

  • Ability to travel independently to events and off-site locations as needed.

Other Requirements and Factors

  • May require occasional travel and work beyond normal office hours, including weekends to support special projects/events.

  • This position is security sensitive

  • This position will require export-control authorization prior to starting employment.

  • This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU policies, regulations, rules and procedures.

  • All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and University safety requirements

Additional Information

A federal proclamation issued on September 19, 2025, imposes a $100,000 fee on new H-1B petitions filed after September 21, 2025. Texas A&M University-Kingsville will not pay this fee. If immigration sponsorship may be required for employment, consult with private immigration counsel, at the individual’s expense, is recommended to determine whether the individual’s current immigration status would make a potential offer of employment from Texas A&M University-Kingsville subject to this fee.

In addition, on January 27, 2026, Texas Governor Abbott issued a moratorium on the filing of any new H-1B petitions unless approved by the Texas Workforce Commission. Accordingly, if sponsorship for employment visa status is required now or in the future, this moratorium may affect the university’s ability to employ the selected final candidate. TAMUK will adhere to applicable regulations regarding visa opportunities.
