CURRENT VACANCY INFORMATION
The Department of Corrections, Central Office, has a current vacancy for PREA Manager (Public Service Manager I) located in Augusta, Maine.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The PREA Manager coordinates PREA audits and provides support to facility leadership during those audits. The PREA Manager provides guidance and implements policy changes related to PREA updates. The position will review and support the investigatory process for sexual misconduct in order to ensure PREA compliance. This position also coordinates with the US Department of Justice in order to schedule audits, annual reporting, and system updates. In addition, the incumbent will complete annual reports in order to inform the legislature and the Governor’s Office. The PREA Manager will design and provide training to all DOC staff on sexual safety of residents and the management of vulnerable populations in order to support PREA compliance, as well as providing technical assistance related to PREA to county jails in order to support their compliance with PREA.
This PREA Coordinator will be crossed trained in other areas of compliance and may be used at the direction of the Manager of Correctional Operations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of PREA Standards
- Knowledge of correctional operations
- Knowledge of investigative practices and techniques
- Knowledge of State and Federal law related to PREA, Correctional Facilities, and personnel practices
- Ability to interpret PREA standards as it relates to correctional practices
- Ability to conduct investigations related to PREA compliance
- Ability to communicate effectively in person and in writing
- Ability to form and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors Degree in assigned area and four (4) years of related work experience. Equivalent related experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
Preference will be given to candidates who possess the following:
Correctional experience to include experience with interpretation of professional standards, professional standard compliance, and monitoring/inspection correctional programs. As well as experience in juvenile and/or adult and/or community corrections.
Background and fingerprint checks are required for this position along with PREA DHHS check.

- Level 2: 95% State Contribution (employee pays 5%): $438.66 biweekly
- Level 3: 90% State Contribution (employee pays 10%): $415.58 biweekly
- Level 4: 85% State Contribution (employee pays 15%): $392.49 biweekly
*The level of the actual value of state paid Health Insurance will be based on the employee’s wage rate and status with regard to the health credit premium program.
Value of State’s share of Employee’s Retirement: 14.47% of pay.
