Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a world-leading manufacturer of industrial gases, has an immediate opening for a BUSINESS MANAGER based in Chandler, Arizona. You will be a key member of the IG West Business Management team.

This commercial position has accountability for the profitable management of the Industrial Gases (IG) West product lines – gaseous and liquid atmospherics (GAN, LIN, LAR, LOX, LUX), liquid carbon dioxide (CO2), and gaseous and liquid hydrogen (GHY, BHY, LHY) businesses. You will develop and implement strategic business initiatives and operating plans to deliver on West sub-regional targets and position Air Products for continued growth and profitable investment.

You will have responsibility for the IG West product lines and through effective business management play a key leadership role in assisting the region to reach its goals related to profitability and growth. The Business Manager will set the strategy for the product line(s) and achieve success by working closely with members of the commercial, tactical planning, logistics, operations, engineering, business development and corporate functional teams. Specifically, you will be involved in pricing strategy and execution, asset management and positioning, efficiency initiatives, prioritization of commercial opportunities and supply chain execution.

A good candidate for this role will be able to balance day-to-day commercial oversight and longer-term growth and strategic planning initiatives.

Accountabilities:

  • P&L management of West Business product lines. Deliver on profitability targets.
  • Lead initiatives and develop, deploy and maintain a business strategy that can fulfill our long-term growth and profitability goals.
  • Business management activities including budget development, monthly and quarterly business performance reporting and forecasting, setting strategic direction for the business motivating teams to deliver on efficiency and business critical initiatives.
  • Identify and evaluate product sourcing and expansion opportunities.
  • Work with the pricing manager to develop pricing strategies based on regional and market segmentation.
  • Partner with sales to develop account strategies and deliver on targets related to new business signings/renewals with an emphasis on the quality of deals. Detailed understanding of customer contracts and associated opportunities and risks.
  • Collaborate with operations, distribution & logistics to create a supply chain and asset base that can optimally support growth and cost objectives.
  • Work closely with tactical planning and logistics to optimize supply-demand and overall system management.
  • Close relationship with customer engineering on product line strategy and cost management efforts.

Minimum Hiring Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree required in a business/marketing or engineering field
  • Minimum 8+ years of prior commercial or engineering experience; preferably with exposure to industrial gases or related industry
  • Strong analytical skills with good eye for business
  • Good communication skills and strong influencing skills
  • Experience in technical service or applications development a plus
  • Organized, project management skills, commercially/ financially savvy
  • Willing to take initiatives and work proactively across the organization
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure in a changing environment
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license, a clean driving record and the ability to access and safely operate a reliable personal vehicle on an ongoing basis.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the US without current or future sponsorship (e.g. temporary work visa or work permit).
