Description

Austin Urban Veterinary Center – Downtown Austin

Austin Urban Veterinary Center is seeking a full-time Playcare Attendant to support our thriving dog and cat boarding and dog play care facility located in the heart of downtown Austin, TX. This is not a seasonal or temporary role—we are looking for a dedicated professional who wants to grow with our team long-term.

Our bustling facility serves downtown Austin residents and surrounding communities. With consistent bookings year-round, you’ll work in a highly interactive, energetic environment focused on delivering exceptional pet care.

If you are dependable, motivated, detail-oriented, and passionate about animal welfare, we want to meet you.
We provide pet care 365 days per year, including weekends and holidays.

Shift Options:
  • Opening Shift: 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Closing Shift: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Candidates must be available to work both shift types as needed.

Some of the responsibilities you will own in this role:

As a Pet Care Technician, you will play a hands-on role in the daily care, supervision, and safety of our pet guests.
    • Rotate dogs safely in and out of supervised playgroups throughout the day
    • Monitor dog playgroups to ensure a safe, structured, and fun environment
    • Check pets in and out while providing outstanding client service
    • Prepare and distribute meals according to feeding instructions
    • Administer medications, including injections (training provided as needed)
    • Maintain daily cleanliness of pet suites (including litter box maintenance)
    • Sanitize indoor dog play areas (this role involves significant cleaning)
    • Perform laundry and maintain overall facility cleanliness
    • Accurately enter pet care notes into our software system (training provided)
    • Transport pets to the downstairs veterinary clinic when needed
    • Communicate effectively with teammates regarding care updates and operational needs
  • Important: This is a physically active role focused on structured pet care and facility operations—not a position where you simply “play with dogs all day.”

What You'll Bring:

    • Experience working with dogs and cats (professional experience preferred but not required)
    • Understanding that pets are family members and must be handled with extreme care
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
    • Comfortable standing and moving for extended periods
    • Capable of extensive cleaning and laundry tasks
    • Strong multitasking skills and attention to detail
    • Professional, polite communication with clients
    • Basic PC proficiency
    • Team-oriented mindset with strong work ethic

Benefits:

  • Paid time off
  • Health insurance
  • Dental Insurance
  • Vision insurance
  • Employee discounts
  • Flexible schedules
  • 401K with company match
  • Training and career development
