The following position is to join our RTX Corporate, Classified Digital Services.
RTX is seeking an experienced Virtual Applications System Administrator to support enterprise‑level virtualized environments and endpoint management solutions for classified and unclassified programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in virtualization, cross‑domain technologies, secure application delivery, and large‑scale systems administration. This role requires working within DoD-compliant environments and supporting mission‑critical capabilities for national defense customers.
This position can be in Tucson AZ, Tewksbury MA, or Richardson TX.
What You Will Do:
- Provide administration, sustainment, and operational support for application services, virtualization infrastructure, and virtual desktop infrastructure operating within Classified Digital Services environments.
- Install, configure, maintain, patch, secure, and troubleshoot Windows-based application servers, virtual machines, virtual desktops, supporting services, and associated platform components.
- Support VDI platforms and virtual application delivery technologies, including virtual desktop pools, persistent and non-persistent desktop images, connection brokers, agent software, user profiles, published applications, and supporting infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot complex issues involving application delivery, virtual desktops, virtualization platforms, authentication, storage, networking, user profiles, printing, peripheral access, performance, and security-tool integration.
- Work with cybersecurity professionals to support vulnerability remediation, application and operating system patching, DISA STIG compliance, secure configuration baselines, scanning activities, findings resolution, and audit evidence requirements.
- Support the integration of application services and VDI platforms with enterprise identity, endpoint-management, monitoring, logging, vulnerability-management, and cybersecurity capabilities.
- Use automation and scripting technologies such as PowerShell, Ansible, Python, or comparable tools to improve application deployment, VDI administration, patching, configuration management, compliance validation, and operational sustainment activities.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive administration tasks, image maintenance, application delivery, health checks, reporting, patch validation, or secure configuration activities.
- Participate in testing and implementation of infrastructure changes, application upgrades, desktop-image updates, software deployments, security patches, and platform modernization initiatives.
- Assist with monitoring service health, platform capacity, virtual desktop availability, application performance, resource utilization, system events, and operational trends.
- Support account administration, privileged access, application permissions, service accounts, group-policy dependencies, and other access-control requirements in accordance with approved security procedures.
- Create and maintain standard operating procedures, system administration guides, application support documentation, VDI support procedures, architecture diagrams, automation documentation, test plans, implementation plans, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge articles.
- Provide technical support during service disruptions, root-cause investigations, recovery activities, planned maintenance, and mission-critical operational events.
- Perform other duties and assignments in support of CDS application, virtualization, endpoint, and cybersecurity operations.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience
- Active DoD Secret clearance (interim not accepted).
- An active and transferable U.S. government-issued Secret security clearance is required on day one of employment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Directive 8140 / 8570-compliant baseline certification, such as CompTIA Security+ CE or an approved equivalent, within 6 months of start date unless already held.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Experience administering Omnissa Horizon or VMware Horizon, including desktop pools, connection servers, agents, golden images, instant clones, application delivery, or user-profile solutions.
- Experience administering VMware virtualization platforms, including vCenter, ESXi hosts, virtual machines, templates, snapshots, clusters, resource allocation, and troubleshooting.
- Experience supporting non-persistent VDI environments and maintaining standardized desktop images, application layers, user-profile technologies, or secure configuration baselines.
- Experience supporting application packaging, deployment, lifecycle management, middleware, web services, database dependencies, licensing services, or application-hosting platforms.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
