As a Senior Claims Specialist, you will be responsible for the evaluation and handling of complex insurance claims and litigation management duties within AXA XL's Commercial E&O Professional division for AXA XL with a primary focus on Lawyers Professional Liability claims
You will play a critical role on the professional team by managing and resolving third-party legal malpractice claims made against AXA XL's policyholders
You will work closely with your manager and coordinate with fellow claims handlers to guide claims to cost-effective resolution
You will interact and collaborate with regional practice partners, the Commercial E&O underwriting team, and with brokers and clients on assigned accounts taking ownership of critical issues relating to claims management
Our professional liability claims handlers are tasked with managing and resolving claims proactively in order to achieve exceptional outcomes
What you’ll be doing What will your essential responsibilities include
Using independent analysis and expertise to determine the case strategy for assigned claims and take all necessary steps to achieve the best outcome
Partnering with internal and external counsel and pursuing effective and cost-efficient litigation strategies for claims in litigation
Employing a problem-solving approach to claims handling by identifying issues as they arise and proposing solutions to same, seeking guidance and discussion from management as appropriate
Producing internal reporting and ensuring that reserves are set according to best practice guidelines
Coordinating and managing communication with internal colleagues and key external stakeholders (e.g., clients, brokers, reinsurers, vendors, etc.), ensuring we are providing the highest level of customer service
Identifying, monitoring and reporting on emerging liability and coverage trends
You will report to a Commercial E&O Manager
What you will bring We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills: Law degree
Passion for results: Approaches tasks proactively and anticipates needs
Thinks quickly and prioritizes multiple work streams without sacrificing quality
Acts with a sense of urgency
A willingness to ask questions and explore new ideas
Eager to learn and focus on continuously improving technical skills
Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, and presentations skills with the ability to communicate and interact internally and externally with senior management and business partners
This includes, building and refining effective working relationships with insured, brokers, claim handlers, underwriters, co-insurers, excess and reinsurers as well as external vendors including investigators and legal counsel
Handles responsibilities with integrity and the highest standards of professionalism
Seeks input from others as needed to achieve the best result possible with effective skills working with and collaborating with in-person and virtual teams
Preferred Experience and Qualifications: Moderate to advanced experience managing third-party Professional Liability claims as a claims handler with a demonstrated experience in analyzing and evaluating insurance coverage issues and drafting coverage correspondence
Significant past experience in the practice of law prior to claims handling
Active adjuster license

The U.S. base salary range for this position is USD 105,300-184,400
Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual’s skills, experience and location
