Job Description:
As a Senior Strategy Manager in bp’s Corporate Strategy team, you will be responsible for leading development of the next generation of bp’s corporate and business strategies. This is a highly integrated role, reliant on having experience and deep knowledge of the broader energy system. You will build and maintain strong relationships with key decision makers across bp and third parties. You will role model our ‘Who we are’ principles: live our purpose, play to win, and care for others.
What you will do...
Strategy development and innovation: lead the development of business and corporate strategies, and support bp’s overarching strategic narrative, through applying standard methodology in strategic problem solving, thinking, value creation and management.
Project leadership: lead complex project(s) to solve novel strategic issues on behalf of the VP Corporate Strategy, SVP Strategy & Sustainability, and our businesses. Develop work plans and prioritise backlogs. Ensure quality control and continuous improvement across the project lifecycle.
Stakeholder relationships: build and maintain strong relationships with key decision makers in our business and integrating functions, to guide the areas of strategic focus and deployment.
Strategy communication: developing storylines and preparing and presenting materials which effectively communicate strategies & policies for a diverse range of audiences, including bp’s businesses, integrating functions and bp LT.
Strategic origination: stay updated with industry trends and standards and actively monitor market movements to identify new strategic business opportunities aligned with bp’s strategic direction. Update and distribute findings from market understanding to the wider team. Strong understanding of business needs to support targeted strategy development.
Development and coaching: develop the capabilities of the wider team by leading 1:1 and group coaching of relevant strategy skills and knowledge areas.
Thought leadership: contribute to bp’s intellectual capital by sharing knowledge and insights within the strategy team and across bp, and developing new and innovative approaches to strategy development, planning and execution, whilst ensuring alignment with bp’s overarching strategic narrative.

What you will bring...
Deep experience: Experience developing and leading business strategy within a professional consultancy firm in a relevant sector, with a deep understanding of energy industry trends and challenges. Demonstrated success in delivering significant business improvements.
Proven ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously, working across diverse teams: originating, initiating, and developing projects and work programmes; mobilising teams; managing multiple projects at once, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
Advanced problem solving and critical thinking: demonstrated success in developing and implementing strategies & policies that drive significant business improvements aligned with bp’s overarching strategy.
Stakeholder management and networking: experience in building and maintaining relationships at C-suite or executive level, understanding needs and delivering tailored high-quality solutions, backed by a broad internal network and external parties.
Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation, and influencing skills: ability to lead workshops, clearly communicate strategic & policy narratives and facilitate & influence discussions with diverse audiences including senior interested parties. Excellent writing skills and oral presentation.
Mentorship and team development skills: experience in coaching and developing junior team members.
Advanced financial competence and business development skills: proven ability in identifying new business opportunities, developing proposals, and evaluating commercial feasibility. Good business judgment and ability to arrive at pragmatic solutions to complex strategic problems.
Minimum Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience in; business, economics, engineering, science, or other relevant subject areas.
Desirable experience
MBA, or equivalent post-graduate experience
